Title: Who here is NOT using the Molex to Sata to PSU connectors? Post by: ben8jam on June 07, 2017, 12:55:22 AM So many posts about melting connectors and fires. Who here is NOT using the riser power from the 6-pack cards. And who here is? Feel like should be a community safety hazard.

I go six pin pcie cable direct to six pin jack on the riser Title: Re: Who here is NOT using the Molex to Sata to PSU connectors? And all the risers I find are only 4-pin male molex. And all the cables I can find are 4-pin male molex too. Am I searching for totally the wrong thing? https://www.amazon.com/VCOM-12-Inch-VC-POW4EXT-Adapter-CE309/dp/B00GNTTO6I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1496797120&sr=8-4&keywords=molex+to+4+pin On NewEgg I went through all their risers and every one is a molex to sata connector. Why are there not more fires??? Title: Re: Who here is NOT using the Molex to Sata to PSU connectors? Post by: bathrobehero on June 07, 2017, 01:08:22 AM You mean the Sata to molex cables?
http://en.community.dell.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/3514/1663.SATA-to-Molex-PSU-adapter.jpg If so, they're fine as long as: - you don't connect more than 2 GPUs to a single cable coming from the PSU; - you don't use cards that are very hungry on the PCI-E front. For example overclocked GTX 750 Ti without 6-pin or any card reflashed with a badly configured BIOS. Title: Re: Who here is NOT using the Molex to Sata to PSU connectors? So two cards get their own molex and two cards have to share. But so many posts saying this is a bad idea...... Title: Re: Who here is NOT using the Molex to Sata to PSU connectors? Why are there not more fires??? No because unlike many I have to have a six or seven card rig miner I have 3 and 4 card rigs with 1 riser or no risers at all. three card riser free 1700 sols for zec at 550 watts https://i.imgur.com/dg0TGrW.jpg four card 1 riser https://i.imgur.com/FwdHSSs.jpg Title: Re: Who here is NOT using the Molex to Sata to PSU connectors? I'm having a heck of a time find the right adapter that doesn't require more adapters to make it all work. Title: Re: Who here is NOT using the Molex to Sata to PSU connectors? Post by: hawkfish007 on June 07, 2017, 04:16:09 AM I use Molex to Sata type risers exclusively since they are cheaper than 6-pins. New Molex risers are built just like 6-pin risers in quality.

Post by: AFox on June 07, 2017, 04:51:06 AM I prefer to use the risers with the 6 pins PCI connector, and directly connected to the PSU.

Somewhere here I read, each peripheral port on ATX PSU is rated for up to 150 watts. Each port can safely power 2 risers :) Title: Re: Who here is NOT using the Molex to Sata to PSU connectors?
