Title: I want to make a distributed localbitcoins.com with osiris-sps.org
Post by: jonwaller on May 05, 2013, 06:14:57 AM
We're all waiting for a distributed exchange, but apart from BitcoinX, there's not a lot I can see out there yet.

I had an idea to use Osiris, the distributed forum system, to set up a simple site that could be used for organising Bitcoin trades.

It's very early days, but I wanted to let BitcoinTalk users know about this so interested people could jump in.

Here's the thread on Osiris:

I announced the thread here:

Not sure where it's going yet, but if you're interested, please join the thread. I was thinking first of getting install quick and seamless on Mac, Win and Linux, and then building a branded forum with categories for each country. Any and all ideas welcome! :)

My thought was to use a android app (with the GPS API) to find people near you to exchange coins. Problem is just, that there is no business model, since there is no central instance to monitor the trades. So you cannot collect any fees from the users.
