Title: Two different GPUs in same mining rig? Post by: maxpower on May 05, 2013, 12:51:14 PM Is it possible to use two different models of GPU in the same mining rig (e.g. 1x 6850 and 1x 5770)? If so, how can I mine with cgminer using both GPUs? Would I need to run two separate instances of cgminer, or would cgminer be able to mine from both at once? Or, is there a better way to do this?

Run two instances of cgminer, one for each GPU. I had no idea about ULPS, so you just saved me many hours of frustration. :-) I am not 100% sure if it is required for every rig or if only some are affected. When it happens though Windows disables any GPUs that don't have displays attached to them. If it does happen there are two solutions that I am aware of: Disable ULPS (easy, free, and seems to always work) or create dummy dongles you can plug into the DVI port on the card. Before someone figured out to disable ULPS the dongles were the only solution. Title: Re: Two different GPUs in same mining rig? Make sure to disable ULPS as I just described here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195550.msg2035320#msg2035320 I think there are some driver issues if you try to use 7xxx cards with 5xxx/6xxx cards, at least in linux I wasn't able to get both recognized at once and ended up having to put the 7xxx cards in a separate rig. I herd I can mine on the onboard for bout half what my GTX650 does |
