Title: coinbomb.com - a new addictive bitcoin game - What bitcoin needs?
Post by: nwbitcoin on May 05, 2013, 03:32:25 PM
I've been playing http://coinbomb.com/ for the last few days - its a really cool mix of bitcoin trading, gambling and social media - and its a really clever way to introduce bitcoins to the general public.

Before anyone starts thinking its just a piece of self publicity - it isn't - I had nothing to do with it, I've just been playing it.

It just strikes me that games are the great way to introduce ideas to people in a way that isn't threatening  - and that is exactly what bitcoin needs.

What do you think?

Is coinbomb.com the answer we have been looking for to take bitcoin to the next stage, or is it missing something?

Would love your feedback!

Looks like the same idea of http://litecointreasure.com/ - just a different approach.
Nevertheless it sounds okay, as long as you aren't stuck at the top  :P

So how do you guys pass these things along?

Post on facebook and other social media?

Sounds like each game is a Micro-MLM to me. Forcing you to sell something to others; not very fun in the least.

When does the current round end ?

Each bomb has its own round. When the timer runs out for that bomb the round is over. The timer is usually 24h but can be lower or higher for special one-time bombs, and will reset back to 24h if someone purchases a bomb.

Nice amounts and plenty of time left on both the Gigaton and Gigajoule ones at the moment.

Someone sent a transaction with no fees so it took too long to verify. It is available again.

Nice concept.
2 questions:
- When you pay to grab a bomb, is it yours right away or do you have to wait for the 6 confirmations?
- If you wait, how long do you wait before rollbacking?

We verify transactions before changing the owner of the bomb. 2 Confirmations for BTC and 6 for LTC.

Payments currently have 2 hours to verify.

2 hours for 2 confirmations seems to be more than enough.
Do you have any kind of public statistics, such as the average value of each bomb when it explodes, etc. ?
Or should we keep track on our own ?

ok guys, some BIG CHANGES just uploaded!

The site now uses PUSH notifications. That means bomb updates/drops will be near instant. No more missing bomb drops, and needing to refresh.

NEW BOMB : GROUP BOMB

We all know these type of games have a ceiling - the value of the bomb just gets too high, and no one buys. NOT ANYMORE.

Players pool their funds together to buy the bombs, so (for instance) 3 players can buy at a level, and all get the same % profit on their investment. Check out the FAQ for more details.

Bombs start as normal, and then become group buys as they get too high. Watch the Saturation / Carpet bombs.

Fun Game!
I noticed in the last couple of days, a few times the timers were extended, why was that?

Agree it's a fun game, though I'd like to offer an alternative on group bombs, since they slow down the whole entertainment.

When you own a bomb, and it's got less than 12 hours to live, then you can send 10% of its price to change it to a group bomb, once.
There is no more automatic switching.

And the bombs will explode much more frequently, which is what they're designed for.

Interesting, we were under the impression that the groups actually speed up the game, because anyone can put in a smaller amount at any time, as if it were round 1, but we're open to suggestion on it!

Suryc - when switching to a group bomb, the timers are extended. This gives buyers the chance to buy solo, then the rest to group in.

Suryc - when switching to a group bomb, the timers are extended. This gives buyers the chance to buy solo, then the rest to group in.

-You refund all incomplete shares
-Bombs that fail to be bought solo go to group automatically - Makes them live 24h more
-There are much less bombs being bought from groups than bombs being bought solo

Read those 3 again, and understand you'd make more money and would have a smoother game if you'd either:
-claimed a fee to upgrade to group bomb (10%, all in your pocket)
-downgraded the solo timer to 8 hours, and group one to 16 hours.

I like the idea of the 8/16 hour timer. that's a good suggestion.

What is the problem with refunding the incomplete shares? surely this makes people more confident to pool in - the point of the game isn't to rush back to level one, but to create more winners along the way..

All bombs are group ones, now.
Fastest is 9 hours.

Think they won't explode ? Really ?  ;)

all bombs will explode at some point..but the aim of our side of the game is to keep them going as long as possible, and keep the chain alive, not speed up the time it takes to get back to round 1.

There will definitely be less bombs bought as groups than solo, as all the quick action happens at the start, when they are only solo bombs. The groups are to extend the "ceiling" level a bit more, and create more winners.

isnt this chain game just like the gem games n stuff that were popular months ago?

It's a chain game, yeah - but we like to think ours is a bit more innovative and exciting compared to a straight clone of anything else out there. It's not for everyone though!

This game is fun, since you actually have a bit more control on the gambling than just letting a server throwing a dice.
Also, this cannot be a scam since the profit for the owner is quite clear... He gets whatever amount the bombs are up to when they explode.
Another reason why it cannot be a scam is that they never hold a big pile of coins, at any time. They could run away with 2BTC max.
So I play, from time to time, small amounts. I made around 0.8 BTC since it's gone in production.

The reason I'm getting this up is that yesterday I tried grabing a share on a group bomb for 0.03BTC (the minimum), and failed, sending a payment of 0.02 instead of 0.03. Payment didn't do anything, of course, and went to oblivion. I sent a mail to the admin address, and was refunded today, with a very kind email back, as a bonus.

You won't often come across people as cautious as I can be, (I dare you, all scammers!), but I clearly vouch for this site.
Nice concept, very clear and transparent, and still very profitable if you follow up the bomb values when they explode and are not too stupid.

We have just relaunched the Gigaton and Gigajoule bombs for a single round! They will also go through the regular group bomb conversion so you can pool funds together with other players to profit even more.

100% Profit on both bombs!
