Title: what do you use to Buy Bitcoin with Fiat?
Post by: sundriver on June 10, 2017, 08:55:43 PM
Which website is your favorite and why? And which other exchanges have you used to buy successfully? (Or failures)

In our country, we can buy Bitcoin with Fiat thru convenience stores like 7-eleven, remittance centers, department stores, and banks. But as for me, I prefer to buy Bitcoins thru 7-eleven which is very convenient actually and very easy. There is a kiosk machine which you just enter the mobile number that is linked to your account and the amount then there is a receipt which you will give to the cashier and pay for it then look at your wallet and there it is.

I bought bitcoin at one of the biggest exchange sites, you know huobi. I have done some transactions there, they have good service.

That's very cool. What's the rate per bitcoin?  And which country is that?

I buy a bitcoin using a special exchanger, which I really like. It is reliable fast and anonymous. And it's called d-obmen

Coinbase is the most polular answer.

LocalBitcoins is also great, if you have cash (rates are favorable for cash owners).

Localbitcoins.com is by far the best & most safest site in my opinion. I can only report positive experiences with them, they use an escrow so it vastly limits the chances of buyer or seller getting scammed. Top site.

What country are you in? The answer to that question truly drives the options available to you.

But if you're not looking for a recommendation and just interested in what everyone else is using, Coinbase is my favorite. It's easy to use, kinda mainstream, easy to transfer fiat in and out, and the fees are relatively low if you're willing to wait a few days for a transaction to settle. For all of these reasons a lot of people here don't like Coinbase.

Coinbase also has strong security, a vault option for higher balances, and enables easy purchasing of Litecoin and Ethereum.

Finally, a lot of early innovators in the crypto-currency industry are involved with coinbase and a lot of silicon valley stalwarts are early investors in coinbase. The involvement of people who are experts in both fields gives the company a lot of credibility that they know what they're doing AND that they have a lot to lose if they try to do something nefarious.

If you have any Bitcoin ATM in your area, give it a try (but be prepared to pay some rather high fees, that's the price of anonymity)

I always find handy the chipchap service in my country which allows me to buy bitcoins using fiat money via the bank's easy pay machine. Of course the fees are rather high, too, but it works like charm.

A lot of people will also suggest you the Localbitcoins, which is the best solution (that's what i hear, never used this service before).

But then again, all depends on what country you are in.

I prefer Local Bitcoins ( let you buy face to face) or Coinbase (highly respected bitcoin company).

When I do buy, I try these methods in order.....(same goes for selling)
 1. I try first to buy it from an actual person that I meet somewhere, Usually a coffee shop
 2. If I can't find a buyer to meet up with I resort to a nearby BTM machine. The upcharge on these things makes me want to knock the machine over. But I don't.
 3. Coinbase using my checking account. This option, the last time I used it anyway, had no fee but took an average of three days to arrive. Admittedly, I don't do this anymore. I've grown up so to speak.
 4. Another method I used to use as last resort is Paxful. I can't stand that site anymore. It is so hard to find a legitimate buyer/seller anymore that buys/sells at a reasonable rate.

3 and 4 don't appeal to me anymore. I've been actively involved in the local crypto-community long enough now that finding a face to face P2P deal is achievable within an hour or two, any time of day.

Edit: I prefer not to buy at all anymore. Earning Bitcoin through my job and other sources have been my preferred method. But sometimes I want to have a little fun and don't feel like waiting till I get paid. That is when I would use the aforementioned methods to buy or sell.

It depends on the place where I am and the volume of the transaction. If in my environment I can not find a counterparty, I turn to P2P services and only then can I contact ATMs or other exchangers. It is more pleasant for me to contact people. I get more flexible prices when contacting the seller. Maybe I'm wrong and someone here will advise the service with flexible prices and pleasant commissions. I will be very happy about this! :D

I am using both ZebPay and Localbitcoins, since I am residing in India. I make the decision depending on which one of them gives the better deal. Localbitcoins is good, but recently some of the trusted vendors have started cheating the sellers. A few weeks back, I got in to a dispute with one of them. Wasted quite a lot of time and effort, but got back my coins in the end.

Don't use Poloniex. They are 30 to 40 days behind on any support requests. If you have an issue there your coins or funds will be tied up for a long time. Mine are currently on withdrawal hold, meaning I cannot withdraw them because their stupid system wants approval from an actual person before it happens(27 days + I cannot withdraw my own coins). Even though I am verified I cannot withdraw. Big pain in the ass and they suck.

Coinbase is what Iwould use if buying from fiat. For me they have never let me down, fast every time. The ability to buy with  a credit card instantly and withdraw minutes later is great. That is what I do.

Doesn't Poloniex make things easier for trading? And what do you think of the fees is charging?

How they make things easier for trading?

I don't think take 40 days to answer a support ticket and hold people's withdraws funds help trading, because you can't trade if your funds are stuck

I am using the localbitcoin in our area since they accept our local currency in exchange for bitcoin. Aside from convenience it is fast and very reliable. But my location could be different from you so the settings could also matter.

See I use zebpay ( REF42427134 ) and Unocoin and localbitcoins for transferring and buying Bitcoins or selling according to market.
you have to take an advanced research on where you are buying Bitcoins from as they are regularly increasing in Bitcoin frauds and scams.
In above mentioned wallets Zebpay is the most secure and useful for me (India)
Download the app and apply this code to get free rs 100 of bitcoin after buy or selling ( REF42427134 )

There are many sites i use to exchange fiat with bitcoin. Among all, Localbitcoins and unocoin is my favourite. Zebpay takes a huge fees to transfer to other wallets so stoped uaing it. I prefer buying small amount bitcoins from localbitcoin or unocoin, but usually i also purchase small amount bitcoins from my private dealer. He provides me fast bitcoins, but i do huge amount deals with face to face deal. I find someone near me on localbitcoin and they prefer dealing face to face with him. Unocoin is also best to purchase huge amount.

Hi there , I recommend you to buy bitcoin with fiat from zebapay atms is more safe and easiest way to use .
You just need a bitcoin address shorter ( you can go on youtube and you can see how you can generate your custom bitcoin address is very simple 2 use )
Second way you can buy instantly with your credit card from etoro , is a very nice site for me , you need to add your card and buy btc without verification for any bank
My failure websites was localbitcoins . I tried to buy face to face bitcoin with fiat and i met that guy in real life , he was a decent reputation on localbitcoins and i thought he was right . But he came with a fake app i think made by him
with fake money in
I wanted to call police but this police dont give a damn for this bitcoin
In my opinion dont buy never face to face or from localbitcoins , only from users with biggggest high rep and 0 reports

Have a great day
Best regards

Coinbase, Bittrex, Kraken, Poloniex.  They all work well.  Some have occasional down time, but overall they are good.  Coinbase is my favorite because it's been around for a long time and has shown long term security and reliability.

How has your local bitcoin experience been?  Has anyone tried to scam you?  Does your bank charge you any fees?

In Canada i use QuickBT they take interac online only. At first you have to buy smaller increments buts after a while you can contact support for a pro account and then you can buy 1000$ worth daily i believe. I have been using the pro account for a couple years and its very convenient i even refused to take a visa/mastercard debitcard because i wanted to use their interac online.
