Title: PSU for Antminer S9
Post by: billybit on June 12, 2017, 07:31:15 AM
i have been sourcing for PSU for S9.

i had bought 3 PSU Delta 2400w (with breakout board) from Paralellminer/Centrix.  Very high quality product however they cost about USD109 (exc courier) / USD140 each (including courier).  ;D very happy with these products except for the price.

i had been browsing through Alibaba and they seem to have dedicated Antminer S7/S9 PSU.  Approximately USD88 each (exclude transport). One company in particular seems to have a PSU division for mining !   ::)

quotation for S9 PSU:

"S9 S7 Power supply (12V 140A 1680W)
High quality industrial grade electronic parts&components to promise 24 hours long time working

-100%New
-Effciency 93~94%
-Including 10 pcs 6pin PCIE connectors
-Six months warranty
EXW Price:$88/pc"

i wanted to see what is your opinion on using these PRC PSU suppliers.   ???

the key attraction is of course the price but question marks about the quality.....any feedback....

I use AHF-2DC-2100W PSUs with my S9s. It's cheap (if you're in USA), it's powerful, and it looks to be reliable (I used PSUs of this model with Alcheminers). I also use 2 of such PSUs in GPU rigs.

thank you Rabinovitch

i was looking to connect it to S9 but i guess the challenge would be looking for the break-out boards....for this particular model...thanks for responding anyhow.

I wouldnt risk buying that from alibaba as they can fake alot of items there.
Quality is important here.

Buying noname brand PSUs has always been a bad thing and will always be a bad thing until someone comes up with proof the PSU works. Stick with server PSUs with BBS and trusted brandnames for PSUs. A bad one could mean a dead miner.

i was reading about PSU from Johnnyguru (http://www.jonnyguru.com/). so many things can go wrong for.  especially so if running a 24/7 farm.

thanks for the reminder to focus on quality.

anyone got any idea how long a decent server psu (delta/hp etc) can last ?

Server power supplies from reputable makers can last a very long time.

Delta isn't as well known for their power supplies as their "OMG THAT'S A LOT OF CFM BUT LOUD" fans, but they have been quietly making some of the best in the business for a long time - and many "Dell" "HP" etc server power supplies supplies are Delta-built.
