Title: How to determine if solo mining is appropriate Post by: devilfish on May 05, 2013, 10:47:29 PM Hey everyone,
I bet this has already been asked, but searching for "solo mining" makes for a ton of stuff to search through. At what point, considering difficulty and local hashrate (scrypt, about 1050 Kh/s) would I dedicate my resources to solo-mining. As an example, BQC currently has a difficulty < 1.0, would it be a better move to mine myself or join the ub3rl33t pool (can't find any other pools atm). Pretty new to mining and all, so I would appreciate the opinion of more seasoned miners. Thanks! I have yet to find a single accepted block for many hours trying many different alt coins.

Solo mining isn't really appropriate unless you have a large setup however you can potentially get rewarded more and more BTC. I would recommend if your new go with a more known coin than BQB and try pool mining. Best of luck though!
