Title: Most Secure Browser for Linux
Post by: ulhaq on June 13, 2017, 12:26:19 AM
I have heard that Chrome is very secure, but I want to avoid it due to extensive tracking by google.

Tor is very privacy-centric, but is not very secure.

So what would be the best choice for a browser focusing on security, but with some modest privacy features?

The most secure browser would be a text based browser like lynx. The problem is that you will lack the functionality that modern browsers have.

Firefox (or icecat) is secure enough as long as you use the correct addons and settings. Here's a helpful guide: https://privacytoolsio.github.io/privacytools.io/#addons

Knowing Google... I'd rather go for Firefox on Linux. Better be safe than sorry.

I'll try lynx. They said Tor is a good one but I found it very toxic. I also want to try chromium.

I might try the Brave browser (https://brave.com/). It already has a lot of features set up, whereas to do so with chromium you have to download and install a bunch of add-ons.

Could not get lynx to work on my system for some reason.

i think chrome is very secure browser for  Linux.

but another browser is their, that one tor.

it was more secure for some software's not all.

so in the chrome some features may added then it will be good for Linux.

TOR is like a close box, I don't prefer it. Mozilla is not bad for linux, also chrome is.

Chromium
Lynx
Firefox

These are my top 3 linux browser for security. Most of the other browsers tend to have a slow pace in start up and doing some tasks like handling may tabs. The browser on my list definitely gets the job done plus it is more secure.

I think there is no term like "most secure browser" because it's depend how you use it. Mozilla Firefox would be the right choice
