I do remember reading things like "Advisor: Vitalik Buterin" on whitepapers (when all of the other people listed had their names listed in other ways) and thinking that it felt very much like a marketing scam. Vitalik is right about payments, if projects didn't pay him for his advisor status then they havd no right to use his name and photo. Let's see what will happen for next projects.
