Title: Massive CNC DDOS against pools dropping its value
Post by: Gamesfreak13563 on May 06, 2013, 04:00:03 AM
Whoever it is, some massive DDOS is ruining all the CNC pools, or at least the legitimate ones. Its value is dropping fast. Network hashrate is also below 2000 MH/s again as of this writing.

So...um. What do?

Solo mine? Switch to FTC, LTC, BTC, or many other coins.

Nothing. The same thing happened to Gox, BTCe, LTC pools, FTC pools, etc. If you want to do something, buy while it's low.

The DDOS attacks are custom tailored to take down pools so that large GPU clusters can mine cheap before diff change. Just BUY all the CNC you can get your hands on and you have a few 100% easy in a matter of hours or days.

You sure this is a good idea?

It's not, someone has to buy all of the coins people are dumping :P

Meh, I'll dump a BTC into it and see what happens.

As a community we can do this.

A large mining pool or large miner perhaps sees the potential of CNC, and probably thinks the Asians will eventually buy this coin up.
DDOS = many early coins for them. Ironically, it is a positive sign for CNC, not a negative.
Day 01... $0.03
Day 02... $0.06
Day 03... "?? (i was out of town)"
Day 04... "?? (out of town)"
Day 05... $0.15 (im back, and it's growing)

Can it last though? Does the fact that it's Chinese give it something that Feathercoin doesn't have? Because that's been tanking and interest waning for days now.

Sure, how about the fact that China = 20% of the global population.
National pride ;D

Trading on bter.com (Chinese Exchange) on day 04.

Those ddos attacks are pretty annoying. Maybe it is time to try my luck with solo mining :D

Now, I hate the tinfoil hat. seriously.

But.... anyone notice the only pools not getting ddos'd are generally the scammy ones? at least, for me, so far. I've bounced through about a dozen, and the "0% fee" pools are all fucking great, working perfect, not paying out. and I know, pplns, few hours, I mean after 6, I'll get a trickle, not what i get out of p2pool, and I get half stales on p2pool.

Could these.... be related?

Like, it could be one guy. throwing up new account, new pool, repeatedly. Stealing, while with his other hand, ddosing anything legit, to not only get all the hashpower he can get, but basically use legit, hardcore miners as his personal fucking botnet.

This is a young coin, this could be a thing, couldn't it?

Sounds like a reasonable idea - get people desperately looking for a pool, and they'll jump on the first one that's up if they think they can make some coins.
