just ordered some equipment, which is not sented yet. ASRock Fatal1ty B250 Gaming K4 Intel B250 So.1151 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX Retail Intel Celeron G3900 2x 2.80GHz So.1151 TRAY 6 x 8GB Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Strix OC Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16 (Retail) 2 x 4GB HyperX FURY black DDR4-2133 DIMM CL14 Single EVGA SuperNOVA 1200 P2 PSU- 1200 Watt - 140 mm - 80 Plus Platinium 6 x USB 3.0 PCI-E 1X To 16X Extender Riser Card Adapter Power Cable Mining AC579 Will this work fine or should I change some parts. It would be better to get a Biostar TB250 BTC if you can find one since they are designed for mining with 6 GPUs and it will be allot less of a headache, especially if you are new to mining.

Another option is the ASUS Z270 PRIME A / AR with 7 PCI-E slots on the motherboard and is verified to do 9 cards, 264 MH/s per rig if you add two M.2 to PCI-E expansion adapters.

So the board seems to be OK for beginning, but PSU seems to be the weak point. Unfortunaly Platinium 1300W is actually not avaible on the market. So what second PSU would you use if power is real expensive and would you connect one or two GPU to it? Reference 1070 TDP is 150W (not sure about the exact model you got). That's only 900W for the cards. 300W for everything else is more than enough. You'll probably be pulling 1000W from the PSU while mining which is slightly higher than optimal probably but perfectly fine
Title: Re: New miner, please check my specs Post by: Elder III on June 14, 2017, 12:09:39 AM If you set your 1070s to 80% power limit they will pull ~120 watts each without much of a loss in hashrate, while saving power and heat/noise will be lower. As long as your PSU has the requisite connectors it should be ok.

EVGA G2 1300 is pretty close to plat efficiency level, but availability is getting spotty since EVGA decided to move to their new G3 model (which IMO is a severe downgrade). I've got some GTX 1070 models that have a TDP at 180 watts - "reference" is 155 not 150. If you keep the TDP turned down to where the cards are pulling 150 watts or less, though, your 1200 should be plenty - the rest of the system isn't going to pull 300 watts. |
