Title: What now?
Post by: mpi on June 19, 2011, 10:40:55 PM
Hey,

So I am using the guiminer with a cpu. And I am trying to use the slush pool. When I open the miner it automatically selects this pool. But on the site www.mining.bitcoin.cz they say to use the new url: http://api.bitcoin.cz:8332. Is this the same as the one sleceted by the miner or should I change it?
And when that's done, I start mining. Does that mean I have entered the pool? And when a block is found, how will I know, and how long is this going to take? I know my share wille probable be very small.
When it is running, it says it is "connecting". Is this allright.

Thanks

If you are using the New GUIMiner then yes!

- Instead of the Slush pool you should select "other" and fill in that new address yourself. This can be ignored, didn't know there's a new guiminer ;-)

- You also registered yourself and your miners on the Slush pool right?

Just download the latest guiminer, it has http://api.bitcoin.cz as address for slush's pool so you will automatically use the right address.

As for rewards and blocks, just check the website! http://www.mining.bitcoin.cz/ login and check  :D The pool is proportoinal, that mean, for every block the pool find, the users are rewarded based on how many shares they sent during the search for that block. Everything is explained on the site.
