Title: Good small to medium sized BTC mining pools?
Post by: JohnRambo on May 06, 2013, 02:59:43 PM
I joined BTC Guild pool and was using them but it has gotten too large now and so it's impractical to use them anymore,

does anyone know of any good small to medium sized Bitcoin mining pools?

Thanks

Have a look at http://blockchain.info/pools. There you can find the other bigger pools.

Deepbit (https://deepbit.net/) is quite a good pool - only has 4% of the total hashrate. Their website can be quite slow, and CGMiner throws errors at me when I try to use it.

Well if it's good, then why is it so slow and throws errors at you?

Honestly, I don't know. I haven't seen anyone else reporting errors, so it's probably just me. See for yourself.

I also jumped off of BTC Guild. For a PPS I recommend 50btc.com. There are larger, but not near the size of BTC Guild. 50 BTC also has a fair PPS fee of 3%

I would recommend Slush's pool, he's a very active operator and regularly updates his pool miners.

I been using it for a year without any major problems.

Just seen a post that ASICMINER which is most of BTC Guilds hash rate is going to start solo mining.  So BTC Guilds hash
rate will zoom down fast.

50BTC is good and stable.

Why wouldn't you want to mine on the biggest pool? More frequent payouts that way.

Pretty stable as of late, I mine around 3GH, getting ready to add a little more, payouts are good, just have to wait for confirms.

Not had problems with BTCGuild, been thinking of switching to 50BTC though, or Deepbit.
But then I mine <1GH/s.....

I don't understand hashrack -- they're just ordering from BFL which you could do yourself.  But that's for another thread.

yeah, it's about purchasing some of the equipment power, but there's another thread for that.
