Is this a generational thing? Will I attempt to blame some new technology in the future for eroding common sense? I really don't get it. It's the whole violent video games link to physical violence debate all over again. How many times does it have to be proven wrong that technology doesn't make people dumb - those people are dumb to start with. I love auto correct. Does it make me spell worse because I rely on it or better because I can see my mistake? I'm inclined to agree with the latter. While I hear ya & would like to believe the same, I'll admit that I now spell worse than I did before autocorrect. I also don't need to memorize phone numbers & often don't know the phone number for people I call all the time anymore.... am I taking that brain power & using it for good? Let's hope so, but I may just be watching a few more minutes of TV each day. And that's me; I'll definitely agree that the masses are not utilizing their new found brain power for things prductive, but instead wasting away just a "bit" more each day... C'est la vie. |
