I dont know if this is off-topic,correct me if I am wrong.
I would like to know is there a way here on bitcointalk or other places on net for fundraising-to collect money in a short period of time for sick friend? Any advice would be appriciated

However it's not easy to get money this way... Anyone can say his friend or any relative is sick to earn some easy money, there are a lot of people trying this. It will be hard to raise money from unknown people.

You have more chances of success if you ask for help in your own community, people who know you, your friend and that know he is really sick.

Lot's of people use JustGiving.com and even Kickstarter.com for charitable causes. As others have said, it might be better to use this as a portal to raise within your local community, because random strangers are unlikely to have any bond with the recipient.

It would be better if you start a fundraiser in Justgiving or gofundme rather than doing it here in Bitcointalk. There are lots of scammers doing this and literally scamming the good people of the society, if you can post solid proof of what you are saying then I guess you will definitely find many donors for your friend.

Even the story is real, it's hard to do a fund raising here in bitcointalk about that case. Try your luck by posting any proofs, much better if all proofs and see if someone will donate any amount. As per every emergency, we are doing any ways to raise money so don't be shy to anything and try all ways.

And as a start, you can try on social media (e.g Facebook) especially on your locals to request some pledges. Do you have some sort of charity offices there that is affiliated with government? You can also try your chances there. Do you have also a foundation of TV networks there? They can give you a segment to their foundation section so that it can advertised nationwide that you need some pledges.

And this is why, from what I've seen, this is the worst place in which to solicit donations.  Plus even if you could prove that the money was for starving kids in Africa or for Cancer Victim Mary, people here probably wouldn't donate anyway.  This forum isn't a charity and we're kind of suspicious of charities anyway (from what I've seen).  Good luck OP, but I don't think you're going to find many donators.

I think you post it here in bitcointalk in the off-topic or meta section but you do that you need to prove the legitimacy of the fundraising cause anyone can post here and say that their friend and starting collecting money. Once you've post the decription and full details of your friend then just add some links of your Facebook, twitter account or instagram if you have one of them and if possible try to link your skype account. Just try to post it here some users might flame because they dont trust any charity or fundraising but i guess there is no harm in trying if it's really true.

Not only that, it opens the idea for scammers to start doing the same thing. This is BTC, there are lots of sociopaths out there who will take advantage of the goodness of others for their gain.

True, but I do not think the users of this forum are at fault, there are so many scams in the forum, and I’m not saying in any way or form that this is one, that the members have become very skeptic about almost anything and anyone that ask money for them, just look at ICOs, many don’t believe in them even if some of them are bound to be successful.

Since some websites are already given to you. Why not just visit a charity for your friend or any government agency that will give your needs?

That is correct. It is better to start on your own vicinity or place or even your government to help you initially instead of starting to seek for help online. It is hard to collect donation funds online because of trust issues accompanied with the lack of personal information with regards to a specific person the help for donation will be given.Instead start with those who already know you and they can spread it afterwards.

You can try gofundme. I saw a post about this on my facebook, it was for my friend's dying sister. Well, sadly she didn't make it and God rest her soul. Maybe you can try that site. I believe they allow users to withdraw money directly to your bank account. Though nowadays people tend to avoid these sites as there have been plenty of scams on these.

So far I have never found anyone who collects money by this fundraising diforum for friends or relatives who are sick, maybe if allowed in such a way this diforum must be many people who cheat by making counterfeit fundraising.

There is a way but you might be considered a scammer. just go through a fund raising site.

That's exactly who's at fault, though.  It's the users, usually new, who come here soliciting donations for fictitious ill relatives friends, requests for Toys For Tots, and all that other stuff that's made people extreme skeptics here.  And we're skeptical for a damn good reason, too.  A lot of that stuff is pure scamming, and people who ask for money could be anyone at all.  People have been known to make up things on the internet in case you haven't noticed.  I'm not saying OP is a scammer, but he's not likely at all to get any money out of anyone here.  That's just the way it is.

I think it comes under the forum rules that no one should make fund raising programs or request for donations. So better Op could delete the thread and can try some other ways as there are more supportive websites for fundraising.

Many users think of this negative way to scam people. So now, even if you say truth, users don't believe it. It's better to use GoFundMe or YouCaring. Let us know about the donation here. Will share it with others.

Yes, for sure you can do it. You can just start fundarisation at gofundme site and start recieving funds for your sick friend. I will be pleased to help your friend so you can also inform me after registering there. I will surely help there. Dont use tgese services just to earn money. Use them if you really need them. I think there are also many other sites which will collect funds for some services. They also include some fees but that will be deducted from the donations you have i guess.

The best thing you can do is to go to your nearest government official and show them your bills since I believe they will help your friend out if he've got some documents that can validate his illness and also maybe you can help them out by selling designed shirts with a cause and you can give him your collected money.

Ironman80 didnt return to this thread so I think he knows that we know whats up. I said this before, there are sociopaths out there who dont care who you are and they will do things like these to appeal to your kindness and scam you out of your money.

This is a BTC forum that has become a place of scams. This is the last place Ironman80 should be looking for suggestions in the first place if he really was in need.

Guys, with such questions, there is a stick with two ends that can hit both sides. The fact is that the one who collects money Can deceive, and quite the opposite of him who has collected can also deceive scammers. It is necessary to be more careful and attentive in these matters.

You can post trough social Medias and also try to pursue some of your friends that your other friend has sick. You can also make tickets and do mini concerts to do fund raising. There is a lot of way if you really want to earn money for your friend.

I don't know if the OP has fully understood how to raise funds. Not sure either if the forum allows such activity. But there are other ways like you mentioned. Social media is the best way because it can reach far audience and someone can probably donate funds or something that can help in a small way. Well you can use some Facebook or twitter but not many people can help especially when they can't donate through btc. I think when you are at school go to the schools president office and make a permit to raise some funds. Someone did that on my school so it went well. It's always better to do this on an actual ways. Few people are only want to help online.

I don't think that you can make collection of the money without the croudfunding or help of the community because this is usual that why anyone will give you money and what is the reason to give you sympathy .
Here you have only two ways .
first way is to make gambling for your Friend , place a bet with the small amount for big odd and then turn them roll ( profit or loss ) if you get profit then withdraw the money .
Second way if first get lost , Try different different platforms of the users ( real users of the social Media  usually Facebook XDA off topic , where recently many of the person donated money , and other platforms where probably you can get help ) And give the proof and ask for the help , probably they may help because 1$ is not a big amount but many dollers that  you will get is big amount for your Friend to help .

That's true, there are a lot of ways to do to make it happen and social media is the powerful online to promote a public fundraising for sick friend and some common friends can also help for you.

We understand that your friend is sick, but before going soliciting in Bitcointalk.org please start a solicitation within your house, your neighbors, friends. schools, in your church.
In these days, its so hard to identify which one is true and which one is acting up.

It is possible but if you have very strong evidence because we know, there are many scamers in cyberspace especially for this kind of thing. People will not be easy to believe for anything like this, unless the person has become viral in many social media.

Some other sick minded people are using those sick friends,neighbors and anything they can use as alibi to rise up and to gain for themselves, But if OP can provide those Valid(Not doctored one) Documents,Location of the patient and contact number of his family I think many people who have kind hearted will jump off and help them out since their are various foundation that might gonna help if the people who's seeking for help are in need of immediate help.

sorry there were plenty of fake beggars incident  in past in this forum so no will trust unless you will give a detailed documents,then some can help you.as far i remember there was a guy who give donation and help charity in this forum ,try to contact him.

I don't think such a thing happen in a forum here because people who may donate will find it difficult to believe whether truly you are raising the money for the purpose intended or as a scam in the name of helping the sick once in the community. So, it better for you to source from some of your friends who are well to do and can see the seek once as you claim.

Try to post it on facebook and share your story. I'm sure that there will be good samaritans that will watch and will help.

Maybe OP is lost. Yes this aren't the right place to ask for help. People here are more focus in crypto currency and maybe this won't catch their attention. Try posting it in social media as I seen many of these that people helped. Just post what really happens to your friend and if it gets sympathy many will share your story until it will get to some institutions or some good samaritans.
Also my sympathy to your friend. Hope he'll get better.

This kind of post asking for donation is not valid until he provides more valid proofs and if no one can validate it then those people who's asking for crowdfund is can be called scam since there are so many people trying to used a pic for some sick people and post it on fb or wherever they want just to get funds for there personal gains. So much better if we have sick friends around is to make a crowdfund physically since asking funds online cannot help a lot since his friend is unknown guys aswell as the poster is unknown.

There are still many people living in this world who are ready to help some deserving individuals. You can ask for some welfare organization as well. Or you can even look for some wealthy individuals of the society. You will surely get help and you’ll manage to take good care of your friend as well.

How about make a video about your sick friend, i think the easiest one to get fundraising is make the viral video. Actually you also can make a thread in bitcointalk about the fundraising, but without screenshot, video or anything about your sick friend it will be useless. It's has been proven that social media helped a lot of people like Facebook especially if you have many friends and followers who really believe that your intention is sincere and true. Helping your friend is a valid reason to do so and it needs genuine heart just to even making those efforts. As long as you have real identity on that account there is a big chance for others to offer or donate they're money to help you.

Good idea, just to have some proof for the people that wants to help. There's some bogus fund raising that just try to get people's sympathy out of the situation of other people that they really don't have an intention to help. Here in my country, when there are viral videos like that, many are helping to those people who are sick and in need.

You can ask bloggers to make your friend a blog about him/herself. The struggles and if possible the biography of your friend should be on that blog. And once it was created, you can just simply spread it and advertise it everywhere with the use of social media. It's a big help as most of the time we are staying at social medias just surfing out what's happening in this world.

Meehh… this won’t be an easy thing to do. There are lots of criminals who pretend their sick just to make quick money, due to their laziness. I’ve even came across someone claiming to be a refugee due to money. Yes there are truthful people, but the bad eggs are too many to the extent you can’t tell the good ones.

In any campaign for a sick person, evidence and organization on that specific agency of government is very important so that those donator or donations be on legal side. Asked any health advocates that represents about the same disease your friend have like cancer or aids groups and make that person as a member. NGO's are one big part of the success if you informed them about your concerned then post it on social media. It is much easier at that rate.

This is true,its really hard to trust people nowadays since most people do things which isnt really true at all for the sake of money and as you said its hard to find out which ones who tell the truth or not.Regarding on this fund raising on this forum i would say it would really be hard to convince people on this forum because there are lots of scam attempts on this one.

You do have a point but for a friend who were looking for funds for medical needs. It is worth the try and take the consequences after. Life is much more important than pride what matters most is what you believe in. If you done your best and no one believes and donate, at least you tried. Sometimes sacrifices is necessary and trust can be earned through hardwork and let them judge him for all he care is a friend.

It is not difficult to raise money to help people who are sick. Call on economically benevolent donors and tell them who you need help with. They need to know that their donation money is really useful.

Start with facebook first so your friends relatives can donate, if they dont donate dont expect other stranger to donate for your friends, or ask local politician for help.
