Title: Oft knows people nothing about the coin they are buying. i.e. IOTA...
Post by: ifinta on June 18, 2017, 06:25:05 AM
I think it needs in a crypto world a serious analyze before buying, but oft no time, no knowledge for a such analyze.
The people buying coins, because it is listed on an exchange, because a trend in price or because friends (they known nothing also, of course)...

i.e. I had a discussion on reddit with BCNext (CfB) yesterday:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Iota/comments/6hugtq/ask_us_anything/dj1i5q3/

At the end of discussion can we consider: IOTA not a P2P system, it has a pruning mechanism: the snapshotting i.e., and this mechanism planned to be made next time off-line and not on the nodes on the living network...
But IOTA is listed on coinmarketcap.com, and because of bitfinex can have a price also. It seems to be a P2P currency as Bitcoin or Litecoin, but it isn't.
Good. It exists scamcoins, we all knows, but with a marketcap ~1.1 billion dollar?
See posts below...

How it is possible?
What do you think about?

Oh, I totally agree on that. Surprised how easy ppl invest their money in all kind of coins without knowing the details. But to be fair, and you explain this already, getting really a grip on a coin and its technology and commercial benefits takes time and require a certain level of understanding of technology. Guess that's the reason why the mass is following media advice. There are many examples out there where good product marketing can positively influence demand.

Just to inform you about news from reddit thread - IOTA network will made the snaphot on the local nodes, offline, with a tool not known, distributed yet. It will be local validated. The result of snapshot can grow 18 GB monthly (if a simple attack to the network applicated):

Very interesting.

And the result: The IOTA nodes will then ignore addresses at snapshotting with a small balance (1, 2 maybe 3 IOTA's, maybe it will be a parameter of snapshot utility)

I think people are just following other people, and they think if everyone is buying it than they should buy it too.
People are too lazy to do research, situation is more like :
- "any good coin to buy?"
- "yes, buy "A" coin, i earned a lot on it"
- "thanks, i am going to buy that coin"

Not a problem. Maybe IOTA changes... Maybe. I got some "good" news. It seems to good news... But I don't checked. I am busy,
I develop a new type of ledger... A backed crypto and an offline first open ledger to support barter...

More about in this thread:

Please ask and criticizm :) Maybe try :) first. Something already implemented. Charm offered already on Byteball Ledger (also DAG, as IOTA, but it works well and have a new type of smart contracts and chat bots...).
