I bought a wallet with 468 BTC but I dont have the password and I dont know how force brute this password, the wallet has private key on it but I cant see without password, i bought from this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYhcPdfsBh4&feature=youtu.be, if some help me I give big reward if I get the password.

Bought the wallet? Hopefully purely as a gamble or academic exercise and at most you paid only just a few Satoshi per BTC in it  ::)
Of course it has a private key linked to it. Wallets are pretty much un-crackable by those without nation-state resources to run the hack for the key. Sort of is the whole point of the encryption behind crypto coins.... ;)

If the scammer is 'selling' it to all takers then whoever manages to be very very (very very very very) lucky and does crack it they get all and the other suckers, er, folks who paid the person are screwed. Personally I think you got SCAMMED big time.

open bitcoin core and see if the balance is actually > 400 BTC. You dont need password to see balance

Yeah, in the video, their Bitcoin Core client wasn't even fully synced. I would load it up in a synced client and see if the balance is actually what it says it is.

Depending on how complex the password is, it could be very unlikely to impossible to crack. I'm guessing if someone sold it they already exhausted quite a bit of resources on cracking it or the wallet doesn't actually have the funds in it.

It's first time I read something like that. Would be very interesting to learn how much cost to OP to 'buy' this wallet. It's really weird that he didn't wonder the reasons why someone sells a wallet with such a big amount of coins.

You know you don't have to pay to find addresses with similar balances, right? So many ways addresses like those are made public. And the beauty of it is, private keys are virtually safe from cracking, so no one who has them is worried. You've basically gotten yourself scammed.

lol! You did what? If you have a wallet with that amount of bitcoins in it, will you sell it? So why do you think any sane person will sell  you theirs? I am sorry, but buying it was a very dumb move. You have been duped , and I dont fore see any big reward forth coming.

Chances are you'll open it and find out there is nothing in it.

Hahaha that's a pretty ingenious scam. Why not just make your passphrase 2x longer than a private key so it's infinitely harder to crack than a private key? Any wallet that I've added a password to doesn't have anything under 16 characters so good luck! He's obviously selling the private key to anyone that comes along. Why wouldn't he? He's getting free money for 0 risk.

First time I have seen or heard this scam but honestly kinda ingenious and each day is something new lol.

Service cost about 20 percent of all bitcoins and this guy can bruteforce the wallets nicely. If you know few words from the password it can speed things up.

see if they can supply you with the wallet hash dump as well as maybe the master key dump.

without those you really are taking a stab in the dark.

i am trying to get back into my own wallets with my own methods and having the wallet itself doesnt make it any easier.

i think its time we learn more linux as that seems to be the mainstay platform for these kind of situations.

Dave at wallet recovery seems to be a very good chap, from what i can tell. i have sent him a few queries, however my balance is not likely worth the time, but he has been respectful with his replies.
