Title: ICO for an ecommerce startup
Post by: mmarin on June 20, 2017, 01:43:51 PM
Hello,
I’ve been working on an eyewear startup similar to Warby Parker, but for the European Union and with some key improvements. I come from a family of opticians and I have a great team working on all aspects of the business, sourcing frames and lenses, ecommerce, design…
We will have quality acetate frames with quality lenses, but because we will cut out all the middleman, we will be able to offer the glasses for roughly 100€.

I’m considering the idea to have an ICO and issue tokens to help with the launch and growth.

Each token would give you the right to buy one pair of glasses every year at cost price (that’s about -40% of the retail price). You could also sell your right for that year’s glasses to somebody. The “dividends” in this example are the 40-50€/year saving when buying new prescription glasses, or the sell of that right to somebody (for let’s say 20€). Tokens would also be traded.

People change their glasses every one to two years. They are fed up with them, they break them or their prescription changes. Over time we will offer also more expensive types of glasses, like prescription sunglasses (priced 150-200€) and multifocals (about 300-400€). In this way the “dividends” would have more value, as the price of the items bought will increase.

What do you think about this idea? Would you sign up for something like this?

Cheers, Marin
