Title: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam sites
Post by: OmegaStarScream on June 21, 2017, 01:36:22 PM
I got a request from minifrij that he is no longer able to update the post because he is not that active so I'm making another thread instead.

Notice:
I have removed any obvious ponzi sites (E.G "Double your bitcoins in 2 days") from the list and they will not be added; everyone should already know to avoid these and adding them will only unnecessarily inflate this list. Faucets will also not be added to this list.

When reporting, follow this format:

Code:
[B] URL:[/B]  site_url
[B]Scam Accusation:[/B]

The URL shouldn't contain https/http, only the [domain_name].[extension]. The scam accusations should follow the proper format found in the sticky thread in the scam accusation section (If the reference is coming from bitcointalk).

Only the title should be in bold. (URL, Scam accusation), everything else should be written in normal and please remove the www. I clearly mentioned It should be domain_name.extension.
The scam accusation should be a thread on bitcointalk at least with the proper format. I can't simply add services as scam simply because you said so, I need proof.

FinalHash should be on the list: http://finalhash.com/

If you need any more proof than that (which there is plenty), then lock this thread and find some other subject matter to pursue.

What do you mean by "a proof more then that"? The picture pretty much contains a list of their clients and I don't know any of them except for Cryptsy. I will search to find more proof, but If you could post more, I'd really appreciate it. If you could also remove the http from the link, that will only give them more backlinks and a better SEO.

LMAO!!!

Dude, all those entities depicted ripped off their user base to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. But you go right ahead and do some research.

Oh, and research Foxminers while you're at it.

And, in your spare time, periodically scroll this Scam section for other candidates to add to your list.

Hello,

bitcnation.com

This ia phising website scam.

Prices are way under market to lure buyers to enter their sensitive personal information..

It actually says: Copyright 2017 Coinmama to inspire a false sense of confidence (a google search for coinmama + bitcnation.com gives nothing, and I am sure coinmama would have made some kind of announcement about it if it was their site)

They ask you to enter sensitive information like credit-card number, scan of passport or ID document, address etc, plus your bitcoin address. These details can easily be used to commit fraud!

Please add this site to the list.

Scam Site : http://metrobitcoinminer.com/

I orderer 'x' times the same Antminer L1.
Each time i paid with paypal and each time i was refunded or the order was cancelled, except the last time.
Each time i paid, it was a different seller name on the paypal board..
Each time they cancelled, they explain that they cannot retrieve the funds from paypal...
During this, they answers mails, questions and anything you want.

The last time, the order was "shipped" and ok.. I wait about 1.5 month...  and nothing.
They don't answer anymore on mail or on their contact support page.

I open an incident with paypal and i retrieve my funds 1 week later.
Hell on them !

Nice and thank you sir this will help us to stay away from these sites because they served grave danger to our accounts and those cheap tricks of them that absolutely looks suspicious should be stop because their one the reasons government are still wary to accept bitcoins  andother alternative  coins because they are causing harm to the users and stealing away those hard earned bitcoin.

Thanks for the effort. However this is just a single piece of cake to how long could this list be since most of the site that relates to bitcoin industry are scam. Maybe we could also try to atleast consider all the cloud mining, all the hyip type of scheme and bitcoin doublers as a scam sites

ponzis , hyips , cloudmining ...etc shouldn't be here , there won't be enough space for these sites cause there are hundreds launching everyday
I keep seeing some accusations here about such sites but an obvious scam doesn't need a thread here , I remember some guy was asking the community here to help him cause he lost money in a site that gives like 150% a day  :D

Then. We should have to generalize that thing. All certain schemes should be then automatically be part of that list. Regardless of the site's business name as long as it would fall to HYIP,CLOUD MININg and Doublers. Cause if we will not include that quote, other users may think that this site is still ok since it is not on the list even if it falls to that certain category listed above.

Everything promoted by the user Grandbanks (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1800659) is a scam:

powhcoins.com

shapeshift.wiki

sell-bitcoin-for-serve.com

(I've checked several signs which I prefer not to disclose. I can PM them to you)

URL:  BITEVOX.COM
Scam Accusation:  You have to deposit some amount in website so that you can buy virtual currency. You have to buy first and then sell the coin. They will deduct a fee while buying and will give you some cents while selling. Their payout is minimum 20 dollars in BTC. I made around 19 dollars. Next day the site is down for maintenance. It remained down for 4 days. All the user data is reset. I used to receive mail from BITEVOX on my mail id. That mail ID does not exist on their system now. If you register again with old email ID, it is now taken as a new identity and all your earned balance is ZERO.

Moral of the story :- BITEVOX.COM is a scam. Do not waste your time and money (Unless you are Bill Gates or something like that. In case you really are, send some BTC to me, even 10 dollars is enough...lol :p :D )

Didn't know about this thread. Like the idea but you have everything all together. What about to make sections for them? For example: Gambling - 1xbit.com and etc, Exchangers - other websites and etc.
But it doesn't worths to write all shit domains, what about to include only original domains?
I mean 1xbit.com, yobit.com and similar websites which are real services but scam at the same time.

I like the first idea but I'm not in favor of the second one because according to you, as long as the service is not known and only a small group of people get scammed, we shouldn't list? This will only make things worst as more people will get scammed in the future by these services.

Badbitcoin.org. has an extensive up to date list of scam sites.

You can also add some of your own if they are not listed...

It doesn't make sense to have such a list, most of the scams start as a legit business anyway.

I find the website is a little bit hard to navigate through but It's getting hard to keep this post updated so I'll check it.

It's a scam:

- They claim to be in business since 2013 while they have no online presence and the domain name is only two months old.
- Fake and unrealistic stats: 75 million users and 250 billion on withdrawals...
- A very slow and unresponsive website with a lot of dead links and nonfunctional 'features'.

Just stay away from cloud mining platforms. It's almost always a scam.

If your goal is to mine, buy an ASIC setup. If you want to accumulate bitcoin, then buy them. There is no easy way to obtain them.

I didn't know about this thread. It is a lot of work behind, all websites have scam accusation topic.
Also, have a [SCAM ALERT] List 150+ scam websites (Updated 27.jan) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5201588.msg53079027#msg53079027)  and the number is growing. I did not do a thorough investigation of each domain, it takes a lot of time when I do like SCAM Warning - 6 websites - Ponzi scheme (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5217264.msg53595440#msg53595440) but all of them offering high ROI, it only makes a difference whether they are hiding behind cloud mining, investment, money doubler etc... schemes.
I think I find some websites in both lists, maybe we need to create a database of scammers, to do not waste a time.
