Today, I'd like to announce "BaliCoffeeCoin1" our first early-stage offer as we work towards developing our CoffeeCoin.io (http://CoffeeCoin.io) blockchain coffee trading platform:


BaliCoffeeCoin1 is a Waves-based token release that you can purchase now for Waves and redeem in July for source-roasted coffee from this season's harvest on Bali Island, Indonesia.

Interesting project as I love a to drink a good and pure Arabica.

$20 for good Arabica 250g, incl. International shipping is ...not so expensive.

My questions is how can you guarantee a deliveries after Aug 1, when the bitcoin price could significantly drop due to the hark fork. This could harm your income very seriously.

Yes, participation in this is just a little more risky than making any purchase for a product online. Like every offer in this market, yes, it requires trust and faith that the product described will be created and delivered.

That's why you'll find links to my personal social media profiles and our slack channel where we are keeping participants up-to-date on the project.

Again, this is a simple, straightforward and small-scale project to show how blockchain tokens can help streamline payments for specialty coffee direct from source.

I have been visiting, sourcing and roasting coffee on Bali during harvest since 2013 so I already know my costs for the project - these will not change enough over the next 6 weeks to cause any issues. Again, we are keeping an eye on the Waves / USD value and selling to fiat as needed to ensure costs are covered.

So why you need to create a token for this? Why not just accept payment in bitcoin?

I have be honest I think this is a scam. I googled you and you used to sell get rich quick schemes. Not good for someone wants trust.

I drop out of conversation now but am suspicious.

In fact, I DID sell direct-from-source coffee for Bitcoin - one of the first to do it I believe - way back in 2013 (when I first joined BCT). It was called The Roast Station Project. The original article about it is still here on Coindesk:

Now, four years later, with the Waves Platform, blockchain technology has advanced to the point where we can do things we couldn't do with bitcoin including...

Create our own "market-specific" token quickly and easily and make it available for sale.
Create a token that we can use as a voucher for future redemption - allowing us to presell/crowdfund a project.
Instantly send, receive and verify other data besides payment ledger data - which has great potential for trading of real-world commodities.

And with this small project, I'm able to show examples of the first two right away to a huge market that needs to be introduced to blockchain technology (the coffee market) - and then work towards more.

Token Sale: June 21st, 2017 Onwards...

BaliCoffeeCoin1 tokens are currently available to purchase on the Waves Decentralized Exchage (DEX) for 4 Waves each and will be available at least until we arrive on Bali.

Farm Visits: July 7 – July 14, 2017

We arrive on Bali the second week of July and begin our harvest visits to the network of farmers we built over the past four years. We will check on the status of harvest and processing of the fresh-crop Arabica coffees and collect our sample lots.

Cupping, Lot Selection and Purchase: July 15 – July 22, 2017

We will be roasting and cupping our samples to determine which is the best coffee to roast and ship to our participants. My network of Bali-based coffee professionals, including at least one certified Q-grader will be involved in the cupping and scoring of the lots to ensure we select the best coffee for this project. Finally, we will make a middle-man free, fair value purchase of the selected coffee direct from the producer.

Redemption: July 23rd – August 7, 2017

After the arrival of the green coffee, we will announce the redemption period to participants here, on our slack channel, our email list and our social media channels. You will then be able to redeem your BaliCoffeeCoin1 tokens for your 250 gram bags of fresh coffee shipped to you anywhere in the world. Participants will send their tokens back to our wallet adding their shipping details in the attachment message box. We will be roasting and bagging the coffee on location in Bali.

This is cool ! I love coffee and would love if I could buy beans with an altcoin. I just want to wair and aee how this pans out let's first see what people have to say about how the coffee tastes. I only drink dark beans though.

So lets first see if it even arrives.

This is unique and good concept but you are complicating simple things.Just sell for any existing Altcoin or continue selling for btc or eth.

I'm not familiar with running a bounty campaign - don't know if it's applicable to a small-scale voucher token project like this.

Yeah, why use the waves token to buy coffee? If I'm a coffee lover, I will just buy it online directly.  And a lot cheaper. No need to enter yourself in a complicated world of crypto just to get waves token and buy coffee. I can't see the logic behind this. By the way, I haven't seen some Indonesian guys here posting in this thread. If they visit this thread and they are located in Bali, it's a good help if they can attest that this farm really exists or the team is really connected with this coffee farm.

It looks like the balicoffecoin1 project is a bit interesting, I happen to be a coffee lover too, hopefully this project will grow and succeed, so more and more people like coffee .. especially in bali ..
