Title: What functions would you add to the existed bitcoin cards?
Post by: MikieRay on June 22, 2017, 06:39:45 AM
Do you have any idea what opportunities could the ideal bitcoin card give?
I have just thought that there are already lots of various bitcoin cards, but I can't figure out what I would like to gain from my bitcoin card..
Do you have any suggestions? Maybe you have any nonexistent ideas?

I would be happier with the exclusion of high fees than with the addition of more features.

Cards are used mainly to buy stuff, after all

i don't use bitcoin card, i find that bitcoin should be simply used like a bank account, from your wallet, mobile or not

but if i were to choose something that should be improved, would be the fee, most of those card have high monthly fee, and they are expensive

bitcoin already have high fee, if you add the fee of these cards, you will kill your own portfolio

I would remove the monthly fee that you get on most Bitcoin debit cards. Most of them charge a couple of dollars a month to each person with money in their cards. It is pretty annoying as I normally deposit more into my Bitcoin card than I actually need. So that extra bit normally just gets take by the website. Most card sites also have really crappy exchange rates but I guess that is one of the only ways they can make money.

In a parallel thread with the same information users who have used bitcoin cards in the past has stated that they have been charged high than what we spend on exchanges. So this need to be taken off for the increased usage of bitcoin cards as well increased accessibility needs to be provided as most of the bitcoin cards come with limited usage on shopping.

What do you mean by limited usage on shopping? Doesn't it depend on shops and their acceptance of bitcoin? Or you mean the acceptance of cards by online merchants?

Having much lower fees would be great, but I guess that's not really a new feature and it's been mentioned enough times in this thread.

Aside from that, I think it would be a great idea to add some sort of reward program that gives you points when you make use of your card.
So, you'd get points every time you make a purchase or load BTC onto your card.

I don't know if this already exists or not, most credit cards do this, but haven't come across this in debit cards.

Maybe add a feature that can transfer funds to another card holder using the site online or using the ATM machine. The market for Bitcoin debit cards is not yet exploding right now but there would come a time when it would be an standard to carry. Bitcoin is still in the investment/speculative stage and people are holding on to their Bitcoin in the hope it would continue to rise.

Wait for the value to experience some plateau and that's the time we can see the rise of Bitcoin card services to offer convenience and better rates. You have to compare what you can offer with the rest of the competitors so that you can come up with your USP (Unique Selling Proposition).

Will you not try to explore the path taken by Monaco Card?

Thanks for your comment!

Why Monaco exactly? What do you think of its card features?
