Title: Ethereum Mining Rig Keeps Freezing After Several Hours of Mining Post by: ss317 on June 22, 2017, 03:41:23 PM Hi,
PSU: 1200W Seasonic Prime Platinum M/B: MSI Z170A SLI Plus Processor: Pentium 6 GPUs: EVGA GTX 1070 Super Clocked (NVIDIA recommended 500W for the first GPU and add 170W for each addn'l GPU) HDD: Sandisk 120GB SS Other: 6 powered risers RAM: 4 GB OS: Windows 10 Mining Software: Claymore I am currently running 5/6 of my EVGA gtx 1070 Super Clocked until I can over clock it and underwatt each gpu (for some reason evga precision XOC doesn't install properly). My computer overnight freezes and I cannot use it at all - the gpu fans are still spinning but not generating as much heat as when they are mining. Do you have any recommendations on what might be causing the issue? I set 16gb of virtual memory for the computer. I want to disconnect this rig from my monitor and let it run by itself - but it keeps freezing and I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Title: Re: Ethereum Mining Rig Keeps Freezing After Several Hours of Mining Post by: iamnoobplzhelp on June 22, 2017, 04:27:00 PM There are a million reasons why. Usually overclocking or undervolting too much.
Title: Re: Ethereum Mining Rig Keeps Freezing After Several Hours of Mining Post by: Mercenary1414 on August 11, 2017, 07:49:04 AM Hi . did you resolve your problem ? . I have the same problem and the same motherboard MSI Z170A SLI Plus , Seasonic 1200w Platinum PSU, Pentium G4560 CPU,8GB ram,1TB HDD,Windows 10 Pro(UEFI), 2 X GTX 1070, 2X GTX 1060 6GB, 1 X GTX 1060 3GB, 5 X Powered USB Risers.problem started when i added 5th GPU (GTX 1070). is this motherboard related issue ?(MSI Z170A SLI). I already tried installing Bios MSI suggested on their blog https://www.msi.com/blog/Mining_Intel_Motherboard_Go_with_MSI_100_200_Series_Motherboard (Bios download link http://pan.baidu.com/s/1pKL1F6b).i changed the bios setting Above 4G = Enable , PEG0 =Gen1, PEG1=Gen1, Windows8.1/10 = enable, Boot UEFI only. I also have a suspicion that i had set Power Limit on all gpu's to 55%(but it was 55% with all 4 GPU when working without a problem).now i set all gpus to 65% power limit and removed the 5th card for find the problem(current memory oc on afterburner: 2 X GTX 1070(micron) = +500, GTX 1060 (Samsung) = +850, GTX 1060 (Micron) =+350 , GTX 1060(hynix) =+500)
(other : im using claymore minner (ETH) 9.7v on nanopool. i saw cpu usage (process = System)was 20%-30% when mining with 5 gpus and with 4 gpu cpu usage was 2%-5%).any tips appreciated!.thanks. Hi, Yes i tried windows Frozen within 10 minutes. i tried connecting single gpu directly to motherboard but still no luck :( (today i tested with 4 gpu for 24 hours and it worked perfectly) Title: Re: Ethereum Mining Rig Keeps Freezing After Several Hours of Mining Post by: ghostwalker.ph on August 11, 2017, 10:34:30 PM Steps to solve this issue:
1. lower your core clock to zero (you dont need this for mining, if you add core clock it will increase the temperature of your gpu thus making it freeze) 2. push your mem clock to your desired hashrate. (this may need time to know, what's the right and stable mem clock for your gpu) 3. increase fan speed to 60% (this will reduce temp, which makes gpu cooler and not prone to freezing) 4. increase virtual memory to 20gb, the higher the lesser the chance to show artifacts) 5. use claymore's dual mining 9.7, it is by far the most stable software ive ever used. Title: Re: Ethereum Mining Rig Keeps Freezing After Several Hours of Mining Post by: Psynthax on August 12, 2017, 12:07:05 AM Try plugging in USB memory stick to see if it will work... I had an issue where my rig would freeze when I had more then 4 cards, the USB stick would not work with 4 cards but would with less.. probably was something wrong with mbo power delivery...
I have switched the board and now the rig works perfectly... :) Title: Re: Ethereum Mining Rig Keeps Freezing After Several Hours of Mining Post by: Regulater on August 12, 2017, 12:11:31 AM Hi, PSU: 1200W Seasonic Prime Platinum M/B: MSI Z170A SLI Plus Processor: Pentium 6 GPUs: EVGA GTX 1070 Super Clocked (NVIDIA recommended 500W for the first GPU and add 170W for each addn'l GPU) HDD: Sandisk 120GB SS Other: 6 powered risers RAM: 4 GB OS: Windows 10 Mining Software: Claymore I am currently running 5/6 of my EVGA gtx 1070 Super Clocked until I can over clock it and underwatt each gpu (for some reason evga precision XOC doesn't install properly). Sounds like an overclock issue or a GPU/PCIE slot issue. I have a system with 1070 SC, and i run 85% +120 Core +700 Memory 75% fan and that system runs stable 450 Sol/s at 120-130 Watt equaling atleast a 3.5 sol/watt. Give that OC a try, maybe that can help, if not, try all default settings then if it still freezes you have an issue with a PCIE Slot or a Riser. When it is not freezing does it exit with a thread error? Firstly off you rig entirely then try to change your RAM place just get it and plug in to another slot on your motherboard. I have solved this problem and rig works for weeks with out any problem |
