Yes, you should avoid bitcoin for low value transactions, you can use other high volume coins like litecoin, you'll be able to transact for cheap.

It is normal considering the recent bump in the transaction fees these days. So, it is highly recommended that you should not transact lower amounts in bitcoin or you will loose half or even more in the fees.

I thought paying 3$ fees was bad. I'm really sorry for you.

Bitcoin is becoming more of an assets than currency.

I'm converting it to dogecoins for gambling use.

And I'm using coinbase integrated sites to pay from my personal coinbase wallet.

This doesn't happen to me. When I cash out my bitcoins from gambling I only spend not more than 0.002 in fees. From gambling site to my online wallet(no fees needed) then sending it to my local exchange. I use about 0.0007 for miners fee then pay for a couple more for the service fee. Avoid using wallets where you can't customize your fees.

That seems exorbitant even by today's standards. I have no idea how much the standard fees of blockchain.info or exodus are (I do use Exodus but only for ETH, LTC and Doge, and the flat rate is just above $2 for ETH as its highest pricing). But for lbc, it's currently at $1.3 or so for depositing. How are you calculating your fees?

Finally, use your own wallet, spend a tx fee that's just enough to get you confirmed in a day (I'd always rather save 50-85% and wait 24 hours). If you manage your coins well, keep your inputs small, and transact only significant amounts, you actually can still keep fees to a few dollars at most.
