As the Japanese government acknowledged Bitcoin, more companies in the country are beginning to accept crypto currency as payment. Among them there are several popular Japanese capsule hotels.
Based in Tokyo, the Anshin Oyado Hotel, run by the Sanza Group, became the first capsule hotel hosting Bitcoin

What's there to surprise, once after the legalizing of bitcoin within the country within a short time period around 22k shops around the country started accepting bitcoin. Also one thing important to be noted is that these Countries doesn't have any card acceptance before accepting bitcoin. Now they believe their trade has increased than the past.

Is this your speculation or this really happen on there?
I know Japan is familiar with bitcoin, but I think there is still mtgox effect on there. And accepting crypto currency as payment need to announce by the company. Do you have any link about this capsule hotel announcement?

This is the first time that I am hearing about these "capsule hotels", so I spent some time in YouTube and Google researching about it. I was surprised with what I found. These Japanese people.. they are really weird. But anyway, I am glad that more and more places are accepting Bitcoin.

I find in weird this capsule hotel though. But I respect the Japanese culture. I think they still have the Mt. Gox effect but since they already legalized the used of bitcoin in their country, I think the fear may have subside a little. That is why you will see a lot of big businesses in Japan are already accepting bitcoin. Just like what Comics & Capsule Hotel Comicap operated by Runsystem Co. Ltd. did.

Capsule hotels in Japan is a last word in all hotels industry, I am surprised that they didn't start to accept bitcoin before. I suppose ordinary hotels also will follow this modern tend.

With Capsule hotels in Japan leading the way to accept bitcoins as payment, I could foresee more hotels in Japan starting to allow customers to pay in bitcoins too, this could be a good way to raise sales of rooms for the hotel as bitcoins is getting more popular, there would be more customers hoping to use their bitcoins to pay for goods and services.

I saw a video about this hotel. Look very futuristic. I don't know how much it cost but for sure it is not for me. The capsule look like a box for the cats when you travel. I assume the price is high so for a high price I would prefer to have a nice bedroom is a hotel with sauna, slaves, ect. Not a box where if your fart your neighboor can hear you

This is no news as what is expected to happen and the same thing will happen if other government should accept bitcoin. Most companies have the interest of accepting that but not all are bold enough to stand on the other side of the law because in business, if its not documented, it does not exist and that exactly what is going on here and the moment the government takes a stand, others will follow it could be mild but eventually they will fall in line.

Those rooms are perfect for making out :D but then you are too exposed, I think the most important business that needs to adopt bitcoin seriously is porn, it's multi billion dollar industry and people will never stop fu*king and never get tired of watching :D
What we need to hear is  that Japan or any other country wants to launch a large mining farm which will defuse Wu's time bomb easily.

It is not a speculation, since bitcoin is legal any business will start accepting bitcoin and that is not a hot news.
If you are traveling to Japan and you are in a budget then capsule hotels is the best bet, other than that it is bloody expensive ,even in capsule hotels you have to shell out US$30 to $50 per night and staying in a capsule hotel means you might feel like staying in a morgue. :D and if you are claustrophobic it is not the best place to crash. :)

I decided to look up how much it costs to stay in a capsule hotel for a night, and it costs close to $25USD/night. I thought something like this might be able to function as some very affordable housing for some people, but I guess not. $600USD/month is almost on par for rent in some non-major cities within the US and Canada.

Aside from that, sounds like a cool idea. If I ever end up going to a place like Japan I might actually be able to make use of something like this, however I don't know how comfortable it would be. Definitely an interesting idea though.

First of all thanks to the member for posting an image which helped me understand what a capsule hotel is. And secondly, It's a commendable step taken first by the government of Japan by recognizing bitcoin as a legal method of payment and now by the people of Japan by accepting bitcoin for their services and products. Japan has set the trend and I hope other countries will follow it soon.

These capsule hotels may look fun and weird, but I don't think they're all that relevant to be honest. I also don't fully believe the Bitcoin / Japan hype as of yet, but since it's a heavily cash-based society it may be quite a good match after all.

What a weird looking hotel, but at the same time it beats sleeping in a storage unit or sleeping on the street it will be nice if hotels like this became more popular in other countries, since I suppose the accommodation will be cheaper than the prices that are offered in Japan, since Japan is a very expensive country to live in.

At least get the damn title straight

It's the hotels that are accepting bitcoin not bitcoin is taking capsule hotels.

And it's nothing new:

Quote
The bitcoin exchange Bitpoint has partnered with Japan’s largest online travel agent Evolable Asia to bring bitcoin payments and exchange services to over 1,400 hotels and inns across Japan this summer.

This again proves that when a country starts to legalize and endorse bitcoin all the citizens there will be benefited.

Merchants that were previously unsure about the regulations that involve bitcoin now has incentive to start afresh with their bitcoin journey. Personally I've been to Japan and actually stayed in one of these cute capsules, it's an awesome experience.

Hotels accepting bitcoin is a win-win because it means that tourists are able to avoid extravagant foreign exchange fees, and pay in bitcoin. Merchants are able to ensure that nobody uses a fraudulent credit card to purchase for their room/services, which is a plus for them.

Always good to hear news about services accepting Bitcoin as payment method, even if it's a strange service like this "capsule hotel".

Seems it's like sleeping inside the microwave...  :D

Mate people move on so as Japan people. Remember World War II? Remember Nuke effect? The Sendai Eeathquake? So how come for MtGox effect which is just a chicken compare to that. If Mtgox effect still there then why no complaints about legalizing bitcoin there? Japan people are different and they have guts to bring back to normal life after a problem in just short period. It's normal to see since Japan already legalized bitcoin.

The link is provided above, you can check that.

I think there are also some capsule hotels here in my country but haven't experienced sleeping in any of them and I am almost sure that they don't accept bitcoin yet. Must be a cheap place to go to, and if bitcoin is being accepted in Japan already, all the more that people should try these compact sleeping areas, which by the way also looks like one of those machines that make people tan.

It's nice to know that little by little bitcoin were introduced and implemented in any ways possible. Having btc used in Japan were good enough to influence other coun3 to try it implemented.

I'm glad to see yet another way to spend your hard earned Bitcoin. This time in the form of capsule hotels. I'm good to see that capsule are being supported since they good for tourists and people needing a cheap place to stay and Bitcoin makes it that much easier and faster.

I hope Japan aims to make Bitcoin look better especially since that Mt gox drama.

Hotels are one of the business that earn more as tourism increases and grow. Bitcoin is one way increasing reservations all around the world since it is easy and efficient. I am waiting for the Japanese Airport to accept bitcoins as well as other transport group in Japan. A cashless society is a one of a kind experience and tourists are attracted to it.

I can tell that the next merchants in Japan will be the restaurants. And soon almost all transactions in Japan will be made using bitcoins.

Though we are not in Japan but we will still benefit from the increasing demand in that country and this will mean an increase in bitcoins value.

Their government knows very well that bitcoin is leading the world and it can help in he growth if their nations healthy economy. Just imagine today hotels in there using or hosting bitcoin one day will come where all the world will be using it. The supply of bitcoin will be increased and it will power the nation with full capacity. It's just one of the reason and start of bitcoin revolution, who knows what big things coming up ahead.

Yeah correct, especially Japan will make the bitcoin as legal and doing great jobs on implementing it to everywhere. First passed in the bill assembly, Second ATM for bitcoin users in Tokyo and other airports and now capsule hotels.
This movement on bitcoin will make Japan as a best economical country in the world, very soon. I hope other countries also should accept the bitcoin soon.

Hey hats off to them for doing something like this, they're going to getting more people at a cheaper rate (given that people who only use Bitcoin are going to be staying in some of these places) and they're going to have to deal with less fees as I think they're using some sort of Bitcoin merchant middleman. It's a step in the right direction, but it's not even a dent in getting to all the businesses / consumers in Japan that are going to need to be educated on the benefits of this tech to be able to get involved in the community and start using Bitcoin.

If we ever were to write the history of Bitcoins I feel Japan would features high on it. They have single handedly taken Bitcoin and brought it every where, has helped the price shoot up and while we always spoke of Chinese holding a lot of hash what did they do, nothing, in fact due to the clampdown on exchanges the prices had tanked, I so want to travel to Japan cause it's is a beautiful country also now it's cost effective cause they accept bitcoins.
