Hello all experts, what do you guys think about it? Is there any chance for bitcoin the digital currency to rise up to the level of $5000 this year. I just read a news and now they are saying bitcoin speculators are the new day traders which definitely means the volume is rising and so are the traders.

I'm looking forward for segwit thing and other hard fork rumors. If bitcoin cope with all and survive, I believe next year we can hit $5000, not this year.

depends on many things so we can't really tell right now.
for example if the SegWit (in other words the scaling solution) is delayed more and things get stalled again we may see some more rise but small.
if it goes through and finally gets activated properly (meaning with majority support) then there will be a big price rise and $5000 becomes a possibility.
if things get out of hand and we end up with a chain and community split then there is a good chance we see a big drop instead.

Everything is uncertain, the price might even go high or just will decrease. Looking the recent price fluctuations I believe the price increase will take place crossing $3000 and to the minimum it might reach close to $3500 at least by the year end. $5000 is a possible one, but the time period to reach the end of the year is low.

I'm not sure the price of bitcoin will reach $5000 for this year, it's too much, maybe around $3000-$4000 for this year. Especially when segwit come on August 1, maybe the price of bitcoin will increase again when it comes, $4000 is the maximum for this year.

It is not going to happen before 2018. Let's be realistic, bitcoin prices already raised about 140% this year and more likely will hit 3500$ till november.

Rising trading volume doesn't necessarily raise the price.

Traders get in and then they get out, that has a neutral affect on supply and demand. And it's the relationship between supply and demand that drives price up or down.

Now, could the price go to $5000, yes. Will it be due to day traders, no. It'll be due to the influx of new buy and hodlers.

Yeah right, I also think the same as you. Too much I think for bitcoin could reach $ 5,000 this year, if a segwit comes it only helps the price to rise up to $ 4,000. And I'm sure there will be correction several times so the price drops several times in the short term. But looking at the previous situation that bitcoin is very difficult to predict and anything can happen to bitcoin. If indeed the bitcoin price could reach $ 5,000 in this year of course it would be very incredible. But I think the chances are very small to reach $ 5,000.

There's a pretty damn strong correlation though.  Rising volume indicates that there's an increasing amount of hype which usually means that there will be a breakout one way or another.  In the midst of a bull market, there's not much chance of increasing volume being bearish.

The effect of halvings on the price is overestimated IMO.  It mainly just decreases how much the miners need to dump on the market.
I love when "realistic" means "this is just like any other investment! Bitcoin isn't known for wild swings in price or anything!".

I'm sure prices of bitcoins will reach to 20000+ but I don't think it will happen like what you mentioned above. In this year it may go 3000+ but I don't think it will go to 5000 range. That is like another 100% up from current price. If it goes so much high in short time then it will correct back a lot so I want to a slow and study growth.

Not anytime soon. The price already when above expected withing last few months. Don't think it will be happening again. And again with all those Segwit and August 1 events we aren't sure about the price of bitcoins.

Its could possibly touch $5000. However, we also know how unpredictable the price of bitcoin is. To push to this price, another good news should come along to the bitcoin ecosystem. I don't know how Australia will impact the price of bitcoin in July 1. But what most worry me, is the Segwit2x activation on Aug 1. We don't know if this will push the price or the other way around.

There is also a tiny chance for me to become the next president of USA while I have no desire for it but the laws of chance says they might force me to accept the office, lol
There is another chance for me to go into the future and change my gender and then come back here and now and jump myself, wew.
If you are waiting to see what others do and say in order to get in or not, then don't because when things go sideways you'll blame these so called experts. final lol.

it's always about rising so high to the moon or dropped so hard to the death ,
that's why some people still considering bitcoin as a dangerous investment ,
a super high risk investment that couldn't done by non tech savvy ,
i even still have a lot of doubt in bitcoin , that's why i put a little amount only to make it safe.

For now no signal that the price could be hit at $5,000 and much more possibility to hit the price this year is around $3,000 to $3,500 value but many people are still afraid like other said about this coming event on 1st of august..
We will expect of price drop since other holders are satisfied with small profit or those people who are selling are the old bitcoin holders and satisfied what the price today. .

I agree. People should stop asking if bitcoin price will rise or fall, because when those same people lose bitcoins start to complain...

Yes you are right that bitcoin price can not hit 5000$ at the end of this year because $5000 is very high price and  I also think the bitcoin price will not boost up in short time its price will increasing step by step and to me I think its price will be increasing 3500$ at the end of December in this year.

As Bitcoin is completely speculative anything could happen. In my view the upcoming weeks price growth helps us predict whether the price increase high to reach $5000 by the year end or just stabilize. By July month end if we were staying above $3000, can hope we'll reach $5000 by the end of 2017.

there are still 6 more months left on the calendar and we are still pretty low on the price when it comes to the real value of bitcoin.
also lets not forget that we will have SegWit activated this year and that is like an end to a long debate and the blockage on the rise will be removed so you should expect another big bull run this year after the SegWit activation which can very well lead to $5000.

Yepp I agree. Everything is possible again. Doom and gloom, moon and beyond or something in the middle.
I tend to moon and beyond. At least for a short while, when SegWit gets finally activated. And it will! However things may change a few months later when it's all about the hardfork again.
All in all the second half of this year won't be boring. So better buckle up!!

It is completely possible. People have said that the $2000 level was impossible to achieve when bitcoin was in $1300 and they said that bitcoin was in a bubble. Look at where we are now, comfortably above $2000 and $1300 seems like an excellent opportunity to buy in.

Though I do think that bitcoin is running out of fuel here. There is only this much money that speculators have to put into bitcoin and we've seen major resistance at the $3k level. Even if we do get close to $5k before the end of the decade, it's probably not going to be this year.

Fatal crash? Can't see it happening. $2000 is a real hard floor for dumpers to break, hard fork or not.

5000$ this year is possible but all of the outcome is depend on the august, many people is optimistic that bitcoin will become better and I believe the segwit is going to save bitcoin and bring bitcoin to its domination again, if everything work smoothly then 5000$ is not an impossible number

5k $ this year wont happen maybe 3k $ okay but 5k $. I think it will hit 5k $ at 2020

I am waiting for that increase. It is possible. We are facing some solutions laid on the table right now and if the activation of segwit ends well then $5000 would be a piece of cake. Bitcoin could go even higher than that since we have more demand than yesterday. More and more people are getting hooked by Bitcoin and we have some countries in the process of legalizing Bitcoin. It should be take off time any minute now.  8) ::)

When the activation of segwit this coming August would impact the community [and price] positively then it is possible that achieving the 5000 dollar mark this year. This is due to engagement of more investors to Bitcoin because of the successful segwit activation. Hopefully that it will be a stable increase and not a bubble.

This year $5000, it isn't possible, as the movement of Bitcoin depends on August 1st. However achieving $5000 price in another 6 months is impossible.
Fatal crash wouldn't happen as many countries are thinking of legalizing it.

actually since beginning bitcoin invented there is always two sides ,
bitcoin could become the leading world payment system , or failed become nothing ,
so it's not a new thing that people keep speculating so wild about the price ,
what is more important for me is about how bitcoin could be adopted by a lot of people , not about price only.

If we successfully pass the Segwit and the hardfork I'm pretty sure bitcoin will skyrocket as well as the other crypto-currencies. People are selling nowadays  due to the uncertainity of what will happen after the fork,but smart guys who know what is this all about hodl their bags.

Some of you guys said that it is impossible to reach $5000 this year. I believe that nothing is impossible in the crypto-world and as I said above if Segwit successfully passes we should easily see btc price surging past the $5k milestone.  ;)

I have seen many speculation that are saying that after the Segwit takeover and the split, even though this is risky we can surely reach not even the $5000 mark but even the $10,000 mark value we can surely see and the promise for fees to be very small even though price are high, if we can see this then I think Altcoins would never surpass bitcoin anymore, even though I have a doubt about this it is still good to really think positively that bitcoin would be great and the efforts of the many people that have invest in bitcoin would not go to waste.

cryptocurrency price quite unpredictable and as far as i know that rare to see the exact predictions regarding bitcoin price but i do agree with most people that it depend on the results of Segwit and the hardfork itself and if the results good i think $5000 is not impossible even bitcoin will reach more than that amount for next year

Fatal crash shouldn't be a issue now as bitcoin will have a hard resistance at a fatal crash and price will recover within few days but the price reaching 5k would be too much as from starting of the year bitcoin has increased by 160% already so a price of 4k would look more logical. Never say never predicting a rise is pretty hard as market has changed a lot over the years.

Initially, to consider lethal crash is nonsensical as there is no reason for having that idea. Bitcoin in the previous a half year has become much fame and is believed to be what's to come. To hit $5000 then again is suggestible yet it isn't unlikely right now judging from the market. Most likely it will ascend in cost to $3000 or all the more yet $5000 is still not a plausibility seen by many individuals.
