Title: Powered Risers
Post by: TheFuneral on May 07, 2013, 06:28:19 PM
Hello guys,

I'm setting up a rig with 4 cards and have bought powered risers for it. I'm not sure I fully understand how to set them up correctly. Would I just get the cables from my PSU that have been used for cd-roms/floopys/older hdds that look like this?

http://www.computercablestore.com/12_Inch_Internal_Power_Su_PID1633.aspx

and plug them into the one male portion of the power cable coming off my riser? Will the direction matter?

Thanks again for your help,

They are keyed you cannot plug them the wrong way around.

so the power plugs I posted above are the correct ones to use for my risers? I also plug the other end coming off my PSU?

Only make sure that you use the correct wire from that plug. ;)

Oh, and don't forget your PSU has to be powerful enough to take the extra load.

You may also try 2nd PSU to power up just video card(s).
Google it for manual.
