Title: How to feel dumb and smart at the same time.
Post by: ih8censorship on June 26, 2017, 04:37:06 AM
So I'm back. You might not recognize this account , but that is because i made only a few posts around 2011. I was there at basically the beginning. I could be rich right now.. That's an odd thought! I was there, but i didn't put the time or effort in. Now im back, Bitcoin is higher than i ever thought it'd be, and i'm trading on exchanges. Live and learn. I feel dumb for not staying in, but smart for getting back in. What were you doing Bitcoin wise in 2011? Did you even know about Bitcoin?

Nope that was a starter year on a cryptography form I didn't know existed, mainly was looking at the wonderful crashes on the stock market and the tempting allure of Fannie Mae and Bernie Mac along with a housing crisis and fun EU drama.

Here the cndition is same , for me , I entered in the Bitcoin field in year 2012 and at that time not much no. Of the coins were available , since few of them are existing in the current time also , but didn't get success by those coins and also at that time another coins were like to place your bets in the gambling game because the trust was not good beside of the Bitcoin and also not much many sites were available at that time for the news and  study about new new things .
But in the current time , many types of sites and services are available to make earnings and get ease of earnings with Bitcoin .
So I think even today I have 80% of the knowledge in the Bitcoin field in comparison of the old time 2012 . Which is sufficient for me to make earnings .

The first time i heard about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies was back in 2013.
I have exactly the same feeling like you.I feel dumb because i didn`t join this forum back in 2014 and
i didn`t start buying and holding bitcoins.I had 1.5 bitcoins when the price was 300 USD and i sold them
because i was afraid of a price collapse.I feel really stupid.

Hey. Better late than never right!? Atleast you came back to a dip in price. Time to cash in!

To answer you're question, in 2011 I was very busy ignoring bitcoin because of my inability to understand the technology and ended up wasting my time playing online games most of the time.

You also learn from the mistakes of others, when you go through this journey. I had something similar happen with me, because I was told about bitcoin, back in 2010 and I simply wrote it off as a fad. <Geek technology that will never succeed>

If I listened back then, I too might have been rich now. ^sad^

Hmm. I am pretty sure most of us were once a victim one way or the other. I became an active user of bitcoin in 2016, thanks to my merchant. I first knew about bitcoin in 2011 but I took it as just another wannabe ponzi. I just came out of a ponzi then that took some of my money and that really clouded my judgement about anything that has to do with online stuff. Also, I saw most of the cryptocurrency terms then as jargon and a way to bamboozle me in until 2016 when I needed to pay a merchant and I was finding it hard due to the dollar limitation placed in my country. Then he told me to send via bitcoin if I can find a way to get some from my country. Fortunately I did, even got more for the next transaction. It was fast, easy and so happy that I found a solution to my inter transaction issues only to find out later there is more to it. Checked my wallet one day and found out the amount in dollar I had before had increased. I didn't understand how that could have happened until I sped to Google and started asking questions and there is it. Here I am today. Still happy I got to know this time and thanks to my merchant.

there is no reason for feeling dumb, it is not the end of the line yet. things are just getting started with bitcoin. you can still consider yourself an early adopter and have a lot of profit in the future rises. i was thinking the same as you back in 2014-2015 when i started with bitcoin that i have missed the $1000 train and it will never go back there again. no i LOL at those times when price is above twice that number.

and besides not everything is the price. you can still use bitcoin as a currency and try to benefit from a decentralized cryptocurrency that nobody can control.

2011, I didn't know about bitcoin and busy about something else but I still feel dumb for not finding out about it but not as much as you who knew the information but left. Now this time, I am feeling so smart compared to my peers around here who are still not taking it serious either by wish or thinking and few years down the line, they would probably be blaming themselves and wished they are smarter.

Yes, I knew bitcoin back in 2011, I think I have some as well, but I don't know were I put it so I totally lost it. But someone has told me that made me go back again and be positive and not think of the bitcoin I lost. That's why I'm really working hard on earning bitcoin specially in doing trading. So basically, I know what you feel. But again, if I'm going to deal with my lost, I will probably lost my mind as well. So deal with it, stand up like a man.

I'm sorry for you lost bitcoin. But good that you still have that attitude towards it. I didn't know bitcoin in 2011, I just discovered it in 2016-17, so I think I still have time to take advantage of bitcoin and earn or invest from it. And as the OP, has said the price of bitcoin is very high so earning at least 1 BTC would be great.

I wish I knew about Bitcoin in 2011, but I respect not knowing about it because the community was still fairly small and I didn't do a lot of looking around online for things related to cryptos or whatever. A lot of my life was just getting through life and I don't think I would have even taken the opportunity to invest even if I had it presented to me, at the time. I simply wouldn't know enough.

I really hope you did not leave your full-time job to earn a income through signature campaigns, because that would just be reckless. These

signature campaigns come and go and some even turn scam, and if you signed up at one of these signature campaigns that turns scam, you will

lose the roof over your head. I got in early, but I did not invest enough to make a huge profit... that only happened much later, when the price

was around $400.  8)

Welcome back!

It is a wise decision to come back to Bitcoin because it is not too late. Though you were wrong about not pursuing Bitcoin on its early years, but coming back is the best decision you had to cope with your mistake.

As for me, I do not know Bitcoin until this very year. Yes, I've heard about Bitcoin last year but it seems that I did not pay attention to it that time. So basically, Bitcoin and I just met each other. It's never too late I'd say.

Being at the very early years is a big opportunity but it seems you did not see it. Well it is unavoidable since Bitcoin is a new stuff there. You could be rich by now! But the smart move here is you came back and continue pursuing in accumulating Bitcoin. It is not yet late to begin again.

I personally do not know that Bitcoin exist at that time. And if I even know Bitcoin then, I must have probably neglect Bitcoin since I am not into this kind of stuff back then.

My story is somewhat similar. I was introduced to bitcoin by some of my friends in 2015. I started doing research and joining a few sites helping me earn free bitcoins some of which are still there. I used to use faucets too. I googled bitcoin and came across bitcointalk in the search results quite often but I was dumb not to have joined it immediately the moment I saw it because I could have earned here more than I did with faucets but I'm happy that I'm here now

No, i embraced bitcoin for the first time in 2013, i didn't heard about bitcoin at that time, in 2011 the price was really cheap between 1$-17$ across the year, it such a big opportunity for you to being rich but sadly you didn't buy much, it's ok you still have a chance.

Anyway welcome back, you don't make any mistakes by joining the comnunity again, well i'm just wondering what's your thought about bitcoin, then and now?

Never heard bitcoin before but i think its still not late to buy bitcoin because there is still chance that bitcoin can be increase until $10k value base on other analysis speculation so what happen before it can be still happen today or in the future..
So don;t waste time if you see the large dump these few days you can buy bitcoin today for a better price and hold them for a long time this is the smart way for now and gain profit if you see price increase above $3,000 sell it and buy again if the price was dump.. just to get the profit and reinvest again in bitcoin..

Jeez welcome to the club, I read about Bitcoin in 2010 and then forgot about it. My job was consuming too much of my attention.

If I had only spent more attention on Bitcoin back then instead of working...in fact I could been skipping school, not getting any education or professional training, not doing any work all my life, that one article I read in 2010 could still have made me more money than everything else I ever did..... ::)

It is good to see older account going back in this forum.  It is a good thing to know about your initial thought of Bitcoin way back 2011.  I was unaware of bitcoin during that time and happen to know it in early 2014, so that is 3 years after you knew about bitcoin.  I was into network marketing industry during those time so not much to tell about my bitcoin experience since I have zero knowledge of bitcoin way back that year.

What I was doing bitcoin wise back then? Nothing, I did not heard of bitcoin until 2015 and did not take any action until a year later, while it is no longer possible to get bitcoin for nothing as you could do back in the day, the truth is there is still lots of opportunities to make some money with bitcoin, now there are ICOs where you can invest your money and obtain great profits in a matter of months.

same here but my problem was school and my dissertation! it took too much of my time and meanwhile everyone else was mining bitcoin with their PC and making a lot of money during the $1000+ rise of 2013

i have no regrets though because i do believe it is not yet late to get involved in bitcoin, and i joined a year+ ago anyways.

At that point there was really no point in buying any, as weird as that idea seemed. But yeah, i remember the very first time i heard of bitcoin, which was probably towards the end of 2010, i thought it was the dumbest idea ever, and that it would never go anywhere. shows you what i know lol.

In the year 2011, I don't have any idea about bitcoin. I am not aware on the internet before. Just using my social media account then post then chat, comments and personal message. I'm contented with that, I thought that it is enough for me but the year goes by, I am being curious. I want to earn money via online job I don't know where, how and when do I start. But I would say now that I have enough knowledge about internet and especially what's inside of bitcoin. We can learn from on our own way. We can learn from our experiences so treasure and valued it.

Yeah i feel that way all the time. I feel smart because I know about bitcoin and and all the theory about how to earn it and multiply but i feel dumb because I'm not using this knowledge or i can't seem to find a practical way to become rich.

I only know about it earlier this year and the price is one of the reason that makes me interested. Back in 2011 the price is low so if i had known back than, probably i'll the same as you.

Well, it's never too late for bitcoin, mate.

Personally I haven't even discovered bitcoin just like most other people on this forum until 2013 which is when the craze of bitcoin really took off. In fact, i haven't started to actually buy bitcoin until late 2014, which somehow actually turned into one of the best decisions of my life, since bitcoin was just so cheap back then.

You're lucky that you know about bitcoin, even. A lot of people out there that either think bitcoin is a scam or they have never even heard of it once in their entire life. It's quite sad when you think about it, that such a good solution to our centralized financial system doesn't get as much publicity as the Kardashians....

At that time I don't even know about bitcoin.
Nor did I ever heard of it.

We all missed the train that is never coming back  ;D
Not necessarily that we lost momentum with bitcoin.

There is a high chance that we are still early adopters, as bitcoin has the potential to reach much higher price levels.

Cash is leaving the scene, digital payments are the future and at the same time, global reserve currency keeps losing value which will only boost bitcoin's price.

Bitcoin might be worth more than $10k in the next 3 years, maybe even more after next halving.

Yes I am also early with you, my beginning when I knew the internet just opened social media and other things that I think is not useful, I was bored with the activity and finally I wonder if there is a way to earn money from the internet, and I also started looking for bit by bit and finally I found bitcoin, so I want to know more about bitcoin how it works and its usefulness and other things about bitcoin itself, I myself feel smart by knowing the existence of this bitcoin, but initially I feel Stupid because I think this is just a lie "how to get money from the internet is not possible", now I am very grateful to recognize bitcoin.

Back in 2011, I thought bitcoin was just a facked up thinking of some Japanese guy who tried to be genius and somehow discovered it.

It was all full of bad information about it and even in Youtube they put a video of how to be broke by investing in bitcoin. No one ever knew it would come to this.

Ah, I remember those days, where I was so carefree and clueless about everything, but then when someone bought me one Bitcoin for my birthday in June, everything changed. I started stressing about the price and after it rose so much I began to be carefree again, it was 2 years where i just left my one bitcoin on an online wallet and 2 years ago, I finally logged in my online wallet again and realised I just made 2K by doing nothing, then i started trading and going on this forum and 2 years after, same old, same old

Most of us know that feeling. I heard about bitcoin originally back in the day in some website, I didn't pay any attention to it because I thought it was a scam that only criminals would use, and I don't want nothing to do with criminals. So I ignored the whole thing. This costed me being a retired millionaire 3 years later... so now i'll have to wait for bitcoin to reach 6 figures per coin if I want to retire... hopefully somewhere next decade.

At least you got a 2011 account, that's pretty cool.

But I feel dumb not to trade right then and there when it was introduced to me and feel smart at the same time because when I decided to jump into this, the price of bitcoin wasn't that expensive yet like now.

I knew about it but didn't educate myself. Only really into it since 2016

You didn't said in a wide words, While it is happened in a exams time when you go and sit in the class after get a question paper and see the questions, so that happens " Oh Shit I knew about it :P But didn't studied :D " so this is the moral.
i think you made a big mistake that you were aware about bitcoin and did not study at that time and did not invest your money at that time, may be it could be the source of your richness.

My initial bitcoin experience was kind of dumb and smart in a way as well. I first heard of bitcoin in 2012 when i was looking for a online poker site that allowed US players and didn't have withdrawal times of 5 months or more as the few sites that US players were allowed to play on had.

Long story short, I found Seals With Clubs poker, created a wallet and bought a bunch of bitcoins following directions on a youtube video. I essentially had no clue what bitcoin was other than that it was a way that I could play online poker with virtually instant (at the time) withdrawals of my funds. I only started really learning about bitcoin while playing for a while. Once I had a better clue/understanding, I bought even more.

So yeah, basically dumb luck led me to bitcoin. I guess I had at least a small smidgen of smarts back then as well to have known that it was at least worth taking a further risk on.

If ico back then were too many and social media were that active I might only be doing social campaign. Maybe meeting btc the way I met it few years ago is definitely a right timing since I can uses it and make more beneficial for me.

I feel lucky for myself. I’ve always been a smart user of the information technology and it was all due to my schooling. I have been into one of the most prestigious school of the city. I remember when I was in grade one I was taught Microsoft Soft Office at that time, it was 1997 :). But later I was involved some other immature activities which unfortunately leaded to something unsatisfactory results :)

I have some harsh memories as well but when I came on the track and wanted to do something positive to support my life I came across bitcoin and luckily it worked for me. I think sometimes about my past and when compare it to the present. I feel so good and so lucky.

Well to be true to you, we are actually the same back at the time like 2011 or 2012 one of my friend in HS was actually investing on bitcoin and he told me about it and I was pretty dumb that I did not look really into it and what it can do in the future. I was really dumb at that time for not investing on it knowing what it is because I just though it was nothing it was just a scam or its just like Paypal were you put money in to it and you can buy something on the web but I was wrong, he was actually investing and doing dump and pump. I regret that time that I did not take the time to check what is bitcoin., I actually just started investing and earning bitcoin in campaign here in bitcointalks this year were the price of bitcoin is pretty high and I can't afford to buy in real money but the good thing is that now I have the knowledge and save some to invest on bitcoin. We all have regrets but late is better than doing nothing right?.  :D

Atleast you decided to go back and started all over again compare to not doing at all the work and keep watching the biggest regret of your life to eat you until your last day with the earth.

Cheers for your comeback, if you got dumbed before don't be dumber and even dumbest, peace out.
It is not too late, bitcoin although it is expensive could really skyrocket in the near future with the activation of segwit, so right now is the right time to try to get as much bitcoin as we possibly can since I think bitcoin dominance will rise once again and much of the money riding in altcoins at the moment is going to pour into bitcoin once again.

Bitcoin never falls I think compare to any other altcoins that is why they are called alts, BTC is always no.1 in crypto currency market cap since then but again who knows what will happen, Bitcoin is still in an infant stage said by many geek on it and as we see they are still developing it continuously.

Bitcoin will survive no matter what if you think it is and with that its price will grow more times at is before and keep breaking the record.

The best strategy is that you are smart before you feel dump. You need to think about what will happen when it's dumped so that you can think what you will do for that situation. When it happens, you won't be stupid :D

I think if you stick into your past and be regretful for the rest of your life it will not be fair. There is a huge number of Bitcoin users who have done all these things in the past but now they have concentrated on the future task.

I think it is better to move forward and take some good steps. We are still lucky that we are earning right now with bitcoin, there are people who besides knowing bitcoin are wasting their time. This is how what makes us smarter.

Correct there is no point in regretting the past, what we did or what we did not do, now that we are here we must try to take advantage of the opportunities that we have in front of us at the moment, I would have liked to buy bitcoin when it was below 1 dollar but those days are never going to come back, but the day when bitcoin could be worth tens of thousands of dollars is coming and we must try to be there when that happens.

I feel dump for not taking an action. I wasted my time hanging out with friends, playing computer games back in 2009. If I had done my research and found my way into bitcoin, I might have made a good fortune by now. But I do feel Smarter than my friends who are still not interested in crypto currency and view it has a joke. I pray they would truly understand the power of crypto currencies in future.

Yes better leave the past behind and look the present and the future to start again and do what you just missed in the past. Besides we can't bring back the past, we were just be sorrowful if we think that. Now be smart and use your resources and capabilities to do more interesting things. Don't repeat what you're mistakes instead take this as a new learning.

Here the story is totally same that I have but I madey comeback soon of 2015 after 2011 .
Since in the started I entered in the Bitcoin then not much sites were available to do study about it and everything was no much easier to understand because no friends at any place were available to explain me , but after 2011 I entered in this field of 2015 last and found that here the sites and blogs are available in thousands and they are also available in the local language which is much easy to understand .
Then after that I made study for one complete and also made study better way of earnings .And then finally came at trading and signature campaign which much profitable even today .
And now today I have knowledge about the Bitcoin and other cryprocurrency about 80-90% because I have much experience of trading that how to keep himself away from the loss and big risk by using small small technology .

I believe important things happen when and because they need to happen. For who wasn't aware about Crypto-Currency in 2011, If you haven't known it before it's because it wasn't the right time for you, don't feel sad about it, you should feel good as you know Bitcoin now and it's still possible to make fortune by using Bitcoin. To play games, hang out with friends is a good memory, at least you used your time well.

that is true, no matter how bad your past is, as long as you want to change into better then you are deserve to do the better thing that you want. we know that we made a mistake in the past by not buying in that time and we are now feels regret but i think we should not worried about our past because i am sure that there is still a chances for us to join into the party, in this case, we can make sure that we have bitcoin when the price is on the higher price.

I would do what you exactly did back in 2011. But at the period, I did not know about bitcoin. I only knew about it in the beginning of 2017. That's why we should learn from our mistakes. We must seize every single opportunity and work hard because we do not know what the future holds. To feel dumb is not a mistake, but if you do not pay attention or try to improve yourself and remain in the dumb level, you will remain dumb forever.

I joined the bitcoin system around 2011 (to get a good knowledge on bitcoin and other crypto currencies aka altcoins) I am a student and my sourrending environment  humans have no idea on bitcoin(except my family). So I feel dumb because I have seen it rising everyday but I ont have any money to buy bitcoins or to save it. but I feel smart because other people can not understand it like I did. an even if they tried to earn it the also they will take around huge time.

I think the easiest way to feel dumb or smart regarding Bitcoin is trading. I know by my own experience. Sometimes when I make some decision and invest my money I feel so smart but at the end when I loose I feel very dumb. But I guess this is hard to avoid.

I totally agree with bitbunnny. You feel so smart when you sell a coin that made you a 10X profit and you feel so dumb after a while when it made another 10x.

I talked to a lot of people, everyone has something to tell you about that, different coin, but some story. It seems a very common pattern in crypto.

While you lost the bitcoin train that does not mean you need to lose all the other trains at the station, look for an altcoin that you think has potential and invest in it, you could lose money but if make your homework then you could easily make incredible returns with that investment and then buy bitcoin with your earnings you had.

That’s what I want to say. It’s a smart move to get into crypto trading the moment you learn about because it’s the most powerful trading market especially if are trading with bitcoins. Bitcoins are the new rulers of the world and it’s prudent to buy as much bitcoins as you can.
