Title: Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 4 gb Hynix - Cannot overclock
Post by: donc81 on June 28, 2017, 06:55:08 AM
Hi guys,
I have a rig of 4 x Rx 580 4gb Hynix on MSI Z270-A PRO. I am using Win 10 x64 with latest Crimson drivers.

My issue is that Trixx and MSI Afterburner do not work. GPUz also doesn't take real time stats and cannot read temp of any of the 4 cards. In other words my cards do not communicate properly with the OS. See screenshot.

I have tried multiple steps including changing drivers, removing old ones with DDU, using modded and non modded bios, removing them from risers and placing on native PCI-E slots....same issue. I have also made sure MSI and Trixx did not run simultaneously. I keep the monitor plugged into the integrated graphic card (Intel).

I am now running out of ideas....can you guys think of anything?

Thank you

I have the exact same problem with a SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 580 4gb.

Try one card only, reinstall windows, reinstall drivers, try to use wattman and do not instal any other overclock app

Try to plug in your monitor in the first PCIEx 16 3.0 slot card of  your motherboard.  When I keep my monitor connected in the integrated Intel graphics, my mining rig doesn't even start. MSI Afterburner needs to communicate with at least one card in order to recognize them.

Dont worry new batch will came soon. Today in europe there was re stock of some cards. I bought rx 470 nitro for 210$ and 3x rx 570 nitro + for 215$. Again it is sold out, but that is example that they are restocking.

Try to connect the Monitor via any cable to the card which is connected to a 16x PCIe card.. should solve it.

I have this problem if I am only using the onboard video.

One of the PEG gpus will actually need to be plugged in. I use a dummy/headless HDMI plug now. Just plug one into the card that's connected to the first PCIex16 slot (the place where you would normally put your GPU)

Something like this:

Or just make sure your video card is plugged in to the monitor.

Thanks a lot guys, i have solved the problem.

As recommended I have switched the video output to one of the RX 580, i launched the miner with OC parameters and one of the four cards started pumping at 30Mhs! I have then opened the radeon settings and suddenly all four started going at 30MHs!

Thanks a lot for your help!
