Post by: JoMax on June 30, 2017, 01:47:01 AM
Hello, Im looking to buy a cheap android phone to store altcoins on an wallet app. I will use kaskerspy antivirus. In this way, is it possible that i get hacked ? if yes, what alternative is more safe please?
(I already have a ledger nano s but it doesnt support the alt coins I need to secure)

No, it is not. You should crave for an offline desktop wallet (the alternative coin's wallet), and set it up on an offline secured computer device that is not the one you use daily with internet connection, which you own (not just any random computer, like library computers). If you can't, Paper wallets are your best cold storage bet.

In my opinion if the Android mobile is not rooted then I don't think that There is any chance of hacking . Because Android is a itself most intelligent platform which can easily handle everything and can give the performance better without use of any third party antivirus app .
But still beside the matter of the Android app , I will never recommend to out your altcoins at the app .
I mean if the app for that altcoin is available then feel free to use .
for example digibyte coin has own wallet for the storage of your digibyte coins  that is officially wallet .
But there are many types of the wallet which are third party  , so here I can't recommend you .
More better is to place at the exchange instead of third party wallet .
Hope you understand , if not then pm me , I will explain you in details .

Paper wallet still good option if you want fully secured your wallet.
But yes all backup data in offline computer its another option that better rather android stored.
Since antivirus can't guarantee 100% your device from any kind of mailicious.

In my opinion, antivirus can not guarantee altcoin wallet will be safe on your android. I personally have never found the right wallet for it

I seem to be better suited to using a wallet of windows. But of course with strong security access and also do not forget to backup your wallet

As far as I know, no android antivirus has been reported to compromise anybody's wallet stored on phone
but what we should be more cautious about is having a rooted device to run our wallets as this is likely to give third parties access to our backup files without our permission.

i think its safe for you to store altcoins even bitcoin on an wallet app and with kaspersky is installed, i think it will more safe for you. as long as only you that is using the android phone, i think its really safe so only you that will know what is inside of your phone. i will suggest you to use multi wallet so you can store many altcoin in your android phone.

I think it's not safe considering that your devices can be taken by malicious agents and simply bankrupt you, keep all your altcoys and stuff in your wallet with 10 levels of protection!)

I'm also with them mate its not safe since android device can easily be infected even you have an antivirus its not a guarantee that you are safe
to be infected as far as I know desktop wallet or paper wallet is really use especially if you have a lots of coin to keep.

May I know what is the android wallet you are referring to, or what application you want to use as your wallet? Because as far as I know, if you hold the private key or paraphrase of the wallet, even if it's from an application, then we can say that it's safe. Jaxx.io and Coinomi has that functionality, so better check those two out if you're considering using your mobile device to store your altcoins.
