Title: Armory forever?
Post by: manmi on June 30, 2017, 04:19:54 PM
Hi, I do have a paper backup.
Have had it for years, and it's working.

Now that I looked at github and the forum here a little bit more closely I realise that somehow goatpig seems to run the development more or less single handed if I'm not mistaken.

Pity I have not the abilities to help here with my own contributions but I'm really wondering how reliable it is to use Armory.
What happens to my backup if Armory stops working due to lack of updates and the use of outdated libraries if goatpig stops developing and maintaining the software for whatever reason?

Armory is open source and there are instructions to build the software within the source code itself. So if Armory is no longer being developed, you can download the code yourself and build it in order to get your coins out. If goatpig takes down his repo for whatever reason, many other people have forked it (including myself) and there's also the original repo so you can download the source code from other places.

You can also use old versions to export private keys and import them in other wallets.
