Title: Where to plug my display - GPU rig - Please help
Post by: couture on July 02, 2017, 10:22:28 AM
Mobo: Asrock H81 Pro BTC
GPUs: Sapphire Radeon RX470 4GB OC Ref cards
Risers: Usual 1x to 16x
Display: Big TV with HDMI lead
OS: EthOS

When I plug the HDMI display lead into the HDMI out on the mobo and boot without any GPUs plugged in it will boot normally and the screen displays EthOS as it should.

When I plug one or more GPUs into the PCIe ports with the HDMI lead plugged into the mobo it all still boots (i can hear and see all the fans etc) but the screen doesnt turn on.

I then move the HDMI lead to the HDMI out port on the GPU but still nothing :(

Im guessing the default display out when a GPU is plugged in is one of the DVIs on the GPU? But as I dont have a DVI lead is there any BIOS setting or something I can change while no GPUs are plugged in (so i can see the screen) to change the defualt display out to stay as the mobo hdmi out or to be the GPU hdmi out...?

Please someone help me - Im so close but just cant get the display working haha

Thankyou!

Enter the BIOS with no GPUS and check if the main display is set to PCI , then plug in your HDMI into the GPU Card that's connected to the 16x GPU Slot. You got the same MOBO as me, so the card thats plugged with riser into the GPU Slot (the biggest one you have, rest are PCI Expresses)

As said. Enter bios and choose primary graphics card/display and set to onboard graphics not pcie. I had to do this so i sved a hdmi port on my monitor. Works fine through the vga off the mobo now.
