Title: EthOS vs Pimp
Post by: joboy84 on July 02, 2017, 07:41:32 PM
Hello,

I am new in the krypto world and currently building my mining rig.

I am looking for the OS to use.

I am looking what are the pro/cons between EthOs and Pimp (getPimp) ?

Thx

Biggest thing is do you want an OS that's ahead of the curve and allows you to mine what you want to mine (pimp) or do you want an OS that's restricted to only the brand cards, coins and miners the devs choose to support (ethos)?

PIMP - loaded with all the main miners to GPU and CPU mine any coin you would like and supported Nvidia GPUs before it was "popular" - $39 per license
ethOS - can only mine a hand full of coins (Monero/ZCash/ETH) and just recently started supporting Nvidia now that it's "popular" - $39 per license

I've used both and even spend time in the pimpOS IRC and Discord support channels if you want to stop by and ask more questions. As a user of pimp I get more for my $39 using pimp than I do out of ethOS but that's just me.

Hey guys ....

a question ... EthOS is better than my simple executable on bat script running ethminer.exe on WINDOWS 7 ?

what's different?

EthOS and dedicated Linux (mining) operating systems in general, consume significantly less power than Windows and in some cases give you a very slight hashpower increase.
They are thus more profitable. They also support 6+ GPUs in a rig which as far as I am aware, Windows 7 doesn't.

Thank you for your support. PIMP seems better, I will use it :)
