Post by: lucasjkr on July 03, 2017, 06:43:19 PM
Are these of interest to anyone?

How much are you looking to sell them for?
I'd be interested in buying them. :)

I don't even know! I just stumbled across them in an box of old parts...

I would say $20USD in Bitcoin, plus S&H (shouldn't be very much if you're in the continental US).

With a caveat that the ad stays up for a day or two to see if there are takers at a higher price (just to make sure I'm not holding onto a collector item or something! :)

Does that sound reasonable?

If you meant $20 for all 6, I would buy them up at $25 for all 6. Let me know :)

I wouldn't mind paying $30 for 3 including shipping to India. (Only need 2-3) :)

Honestly, I don't know!

The story is, in July 2013, I received my BFL Jalapeño miner (received it within 4 weeks of them FINALLY starting shipments, so it would have done well had I kept it), plugged it in, took a screenshot of it hashing away, and sold it on eBay for... a bit. Replaced that "hashpower" with a bunch of these, and they worked fine until I realized the return was probably negligible. The computer they were plugged into has long since been disposed of, and I haven't thought to look for instructions to get them to work with my MacBook, so they're pretty much as-is, but last I knew they worked.

Not much of an answer, but that's all I knew.

I'd buy all 6 for $45 + shipping

50$ + shipping for all 6.

50$ + shipping for all 6.

Are people still mining with these? I think I have a bunch in a draw somewhere...you must have very low electricity costs, but more power to you!

It's more for the collectible aspect (or crazy person hoping to have the most extreme luck ever).
I still have a ton of antminers and block eruptors. It's almost the first real bitcoin hardware, excluding FPGA boards. And also is small and you can keep on your desk.

Seems like there's interest, maybe start a proper auction?

What about those people with "free" or cheap electricity...do you think they are still running them in a pool?

I'd possibly be interested in buying one, just for collectible purposes.

1 person from out of country asked for one for $40 incl S&H

I doubt anyone else will match that, so lets just say there's 5 left.

Otherwise, it looks like its rusbitcoinuser for $9 ea + S&H (assuming they're in the US, not sure based on the name, if I'd have to be looking how to ship to Russia!).

Still going through tomorrow.

Actually scratch that out of country one - after looking at USPS prices, I don't think the economics work out. So currently 6 for $50 + S&H...  Can I get verification on what country they'ed go to?

How much would shipping cost to India?

Chronicsky and I can place a combined shipping order, if you're interested.

Looking at USPS.com's website at:
https://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/il_002.htm

I'm seeing this listed under "prohibitions":

Consumer electronic items, (except hearing aids and life-saving equipment, apparatus, and appliances and parts thereof). Shipments containing these goods up to the value of 200 Indian rupees (gift value) are at present released after the words “Released on caution” have been stamped on the item.

I think it says the cost is $31.95 for a *Padded Flat Rate Envelope*

Seeing the customs prohibition, I wouldn't be afraid to ship it, but obviously could not guarantee delivery, and would not be willing to provide a refund if it wasn't received.

Lets talk tomorrow if your bid(s) are leading, otherwise feel free to let me know that it's not acceptable.

Thanks!

Will take the shipping to minerjones in USA , wouldn't be a problem ? :)

For those collecting these pieces of history, do you also have the plastic cases?

If someone was still looking to use these for mining, what would be the argument against that?  I'm sure people understand they aren't efficient compared to newer tech and I'm wondering what numbers put that into perspective.

with 3 block eruptors you would make 0.00001065BTC a month. not even enough to cover transaction fees.

It would take 1million 100,000 years to mine a block assuming difficulty stays the same. I don't even think ckpool supports that low of hashrate anymore

Looks like Hox is leading.

Thanks eze.  That's a good stat, can't even make enough monthly BTC to cover the transaction fee for sending that months income.

That's why I posted these as "vintage" in the "collectibles" section rather than as mining hardware :)

Agreed and I hope users aren't buying this for mining hardware!  I've heard people (in person) with some arguments for mining that sounds like they've never mined before.  eze's point was perfect and puts it into perspective that you'd be better off just buying BTC than trying to mine with these.

FYI - I messaged Hox, as s/he seems to be the winner. If that falls apart, I'll contact the next person on the list.

Do you guys remember how much heat those little eruptors made, I had to put an external fan on them.
