The EOS Token Distribution generated over US$185 Million in the first five days, without any existing product.

Sounds like a lot of suckers to me.  ;D

I think the OP doesn't know much about graphene if he thinks "fork of bitshares" is good enough explanation.

Here's some more random info: http://imgur.com/a/7lx34

Here's the video explaining it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9gU3F2kMFM

White paper: https://github.com/EOSIO/Documentation/blob/master/TechnicalWhitePaper.md

github: https://github.com/EOSIO

website: www.eos.io with link to telegram at the bottom

It is a good project, by people who made fastest and most used blockchains in the past https://twitter.com/theapptrade/status/867097673521922049

EOS is just a generalized version of previous graphene dapps called steem and bts, but for any dapps with parallel execution allowing millions of tx/sec

Value is high because people want a solution for dapps that is ready for global scale now just like steem and bts and ethereum is one of the worst projects imaginable: https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereumfraud/

It is also valued extremely high so I also agree that maybe with 1 billion tokens valuing it at 5 billion market cap right now a year from live net is absurd.

It's definitely a cool idea if they can pull off the technology.

Dapps with a free tier will always beat dapps that require fees to do anything.

It's the old herd mentality. People see money pouring in this project and they follow the money. I should gather up some friends and make a ICO myself with a fluffy whitepaper and a flashy website. I am not greedy so 1 million ICO would be enough.

Pick one. Not that I care for Eth but come on, so much money only to rename a previously existing, even old project trying to compete with Eth?

It doesn't have anything on it yet, it does look like its going to scam millions of users soon. They didn't even created their own thread here in bitcointalk for the users to investigate. It all looks like the team have bagging all the tokens and wanted to sell it all to the buyers on the market while they keep dumping.

Hi,

I don't understand a point on token distribution. On the crowdsale site there are a lot of advice that the token has no value and on this there are no problem, is an ICO and I considered the risk.
The point that isn't clear is that, if I understand correctly, there is no guarantee that the token buy in ICO will be carry with an equivalent numeber of token on the new blockchain...even if the new blockchan will born whitout any problems...is this true ?

Title: Re: [ANN] EOS - Decentralize Everything
Post by: Random816 on July 16, 2017, 12:31:27 AM
Yes so this is a confusing ICO.  It was recommended to my by a friend to look into but perhaps someone here could help explain it better or maybe in writing it down I will better understand it and it's actual value.  Either way I am going to do so here so if I have understood this wrong please correct me.

As of this writing EOS seems to be trading at about $1.30 USD on crypto market cap.  ETH is $172.

Per the token website their distribution is taking place over a year by selling 2,000,000 coins/day at more or less "market price" and how they determine that is by dividing the total EOS available for the period by the total amount of ETH collected.  Then they multiply that number by the amount of ETH you contributed - thats how much EOS you get.

YOUR EOS = a*(b/c)

a = Total ETH contributed by an authorized purchaser during the period.
b = Total number of EOS Tokens available for distribution in the period.
c = Total ETH contributed by all authorized purchasers during the period.

This is their example:

20 EOS Tokens are available during a period.
Bob contributes 4 ETH and Alice contributes 1 ETH during the period.
As a total of 5 ETH were contributed for 20 EOS Tokens during the period, 1 EOS
Token will be distributed for every 0.25 ETH contributed. Therefore, Bob receives
16 EOS Tokens and Alice receives 4 EOS Tokens.

OK GREAT.  So now I am writing this and wanting to do some real work number examples of this... In all examples I'll use an investment of 5 ETH and since the distribution is 2,000,000 coins every day for the next year I'll keep that solid too so the only real variable is how much ETH others invest each day - as of this writing they are only 3 hours into todays distribution period but it currently sits at 958 ETH so I'll use that in the first example.

5 ETH contribution = "A"
2,000,000 coins available/period = "B"
958 Total ETH contributed = "C"

So in this distribution I would get roughly 10,438 EOS - 2,087/ETH = $.0824 each

Example 2 - more ETH contributed - 5000 ETH
5 ETH contribution = "A"
2,000,000 coins available/period = "B"
5000 Total ETH contributed = "C"

In example 2 I get 2,000 EOS - 400/ETH = $.43 each

Example 3 - you get lucky because it is a holiday and everyone is asleep - only 50 ETH contributed during period.
5 ETH contribution = "A"
2,000,000 coins available/period = "B"
50 Total ETH contributed = "C"

Example 3 I get 200,000 EOS - 40,000/ETH = $.0043 each.

So what I take from this is that you want to be in on a day when no-one else is buying or else you end up getting a lot less coins.  I am also seeing that in order to maintain the current pricing of $1.30 USD they need to have people buy in at a rate of almost 17,500 ETH per day or roughly $3 Million USD/day

Does anyone know how much ETH was collected in the initial few days of this launching?  How does the value go up otherwise?

I guess I still just don't get this one - can someone smart help?

Yes that would be great if someone knew the daily amount collected.  By my numbers they need to collect approx 13,500 ETH a day to keep up $3M~

Good project, good development, good devs and good community can only mean that this one is a good coin to hold and I am really greatful that they are giving away carecoins in their bounty campaign. This maybe the kind of coin which is good to hold long term.

Title: Re: [ANN] EOS - Decentralize Everything
Post by: Random816 on July 22, 2017, 03:05:17 PM
Well today July 22 2017 they have collected 17,463 ETH just before the clock reset.  A value of approx $3,894,249 with ETH @ $223.

Divide by 2,000,000 and we get todays value of $1.947 USD.  Which just so happens to be exactly how much the price is listed at on Cryptomarketcap...

Makes me wonder how much of this stuff is just getting pushed off to the exchanges, sold and re-bought to drive the price up?  I have a hard time believing they just happen to get 15,000+ of ETH daily from random new investors.  I'd bet it is the same people, over and over.

No-one seems to be talking about this, starting to seem scammy to me - lack of transparency unless I am missing something.  Tons of money getting thrown at it but yet no-one is talking about it.  Whats the deal with this stuff?

Is anyone on this thread from EOS?

Their purchase agreement states:

Quote
7.15. Risk of Alternative Blockchains based on EOS.IO Software. The EOS.IO Software will not likely be licensed under an open source license until after the end of the EOS Distribution Period; however, it is possible somebody will not respect the EOS.IO Software copyright or will modify the EOS.IO Software after it has been released under an open source license. Therefore, it is possible for someone to utilize the EOS.IO Software to build and launch blockchain protocols using a token distribution other than the one intended for the EOS Tokens pursuant to the EOS.IO Software both prior to or after the EOS.IO Software has become licensed as open source.

If anyone can use the EOS.IO Software (under the open source license) to launch the blockchain using a token distribution other than the one purchased by thousands of buyers for over $200 million so far, then why wouldn't they?

Why wouldn't thousands of potentials users ignore and bypass the token sale and simply use the EOS blockchain for free?

Seriously, they will not build some boeing, some cars and need 300 employees for that.
I am disgusted, I have the impression to contribute to pay their ferrari, their villa and I'm sure their astronomic salary. Some ico are exaggerated. Someone know how much employees has ethereum ? and how much is the salary of Vitalik and others big boss of ethereum ?

EOS.IO Dawn 1.0 is the first pre-release of the EOS.IO SDK (Software Development Kit).  The Dawn series of EOS.IO software releases represent early alpha-quality software suitable for use by those looking to get a head start on the EOS.IO ecosystem.
This release includes all Phase 1 features, including documentation and guides for developers to build a private P2P network  to test smart contracts.
EOS.IO Dawn 2.0, the next major pre-release, will come by the end of the year. EOS.IO Dawn 2.0 will include several critical features that are not present in EOS.IO Dawn 1.0 including:

* Resource Rate Limiting (preventing spam / abuse)
* Merkle Tree Generation (for cross chain communication)
* Upgrade Management and Governance
* More robust SDK
* General Infrastructure improvements
* Example Snapshot from ERC20 tokens

The goal of EOS.IO Dawn 2.0 is to be functional enough that one could launch a live blockchain.
Let's wait and see what will happen with EOS in the future, will share something new in EOS on here.

From EOS FAQ

As block.one will not configure and/or launch any EOS Platform, block.one will have no control over when, how or whether the EOS.IO Software is adopted or implemented, or how, when or whether the EOS Platform is launched. As such, you should not expect and there is no guarantee that you will receive any other cryptographic tokens or digital assets now or in the future.

EOS was developed by BM, and it should be raised at 2 of the bit stock, probably in 2015. Graphene technology is a real business oriented block chain technology, and all its designs are designed around the business, not just for a concept.

There is a rumor that BM will leave EOS. Two versions, one is left, one is left in the main line. Before BM, I can't do it as a short point, after all, the cost of the laps is too low.

Maybe you can share the sources you read or any link where you got that info from? From what I can tell it doesn't make any sense if you consider what he publicly said recently about EOS.

EOS rebound is the weakest, the slope is not high (not understand the slope of the video). There is a lot of shock. If you don't drop before you fall, you will run. :)

Not true for today :) considering the 24 hour change column on coinmarketcap EOS ranks second right now, which is not too bad hm? ;)

Yeah EOS has been going nuts today, it was up 30% at one point.

I'll be watching closely to see how well this chain launches with the community taking charge of it, still not sure I understand how they propose that will work? ???

Same for me, I am not entirely sure how it will work out. There are very strong guys in the background though who have an unprecedented experience in this space. I really trust them and I feel confident about my investment.

EOS is basically impossible to fail. On the eos6 public chain, DAPP ecosystem can be built up gradually, and the system will be more perfect.

EOS is scam, made by Chinese scammer Li Xiaolai, lol, it is dead now. The price is shitty low.
Maybe you are right. So just bought small amount, in case it's not a scam.

Sold some EOS, that bought in the bottom, have 600% profit :)

Daniel Larimer says all but one of the bugs mentioned in the Chinese report that sparked the controversy have already been fixed.
On the EOS developers’ channel on Telegram, Larimer said,
Quote
“We have fixed all reported bugs, we have one crash in our unit tests in wavm that we are fixing. That [Chinese] report is FUD, it was fixed before it was even published. So far the vast majority of reported bugs have actually been in 3rd party libraries we build on. It is one thing to over-write memory, but they wouldn’t over-write executable memory and they wouldn’t get root access.”

does EOS have a block reward?  Is it minable?   max supply?

does EOS have a block reward?  Is it minable?   max supply?
Short answer:
Block reward is based on a negotiated amount between the block validators and the stakeholders up to a maximum of 5% of the market capitalization per year. If delegates ask for too much reward, they are voted out by stakeholders. Being voted out from a delegate position and losing future block reward payouts is the opportunity cost against incentivizing delegates from taking bribes, and thus prevents attackers from gaming the system.

I bought EOS before the launch of mainnet when it was at around $1 having big hopes. I still didn't sell because when it touched all time hihs it was almost impossible to move tokens because of issues it saw. But decentralized it isn't that I will agree fully on seeing the ability to control anyone's wallet can be said.

Dear EOS community. We are pleased to inform you about our project https://eoschats.top/ which logs all important telegram chats related to EOS. We believe that EOS Chats will be a valuable addition to the EOS ecosystem. During the work of the site, we have already received a large number of positive feedback from community members. The project is under active development. The project has its own team of programmers, ready at any time to solve new technical problems and make new improvements.

What is implemented at the moment:
You can read your favorite sites in a convenient form for you through https://eoschats.top/ The site is optimized for work and on mobile devices. There is a search by keyword and date. It is possible to read the chat you want in your native language using Google Translate. The translation is not perfect, but it will allow you to receive the latest news as quickly as possible from the first sources. For example, you can use our site to read Korean or Russian versions of EOS telegram chats.

In the near future, we plan to add the ability to share a specific telegram post in social networks. On the one hand, this will allow you to share interesting content with your friends and subscribers, and on the other hand, it will positively influence the development of EOS’s popularity in general.

There is a lot of work ahead, we have planned a huge number of interesting and useful improvements. If you have any suggestions for improving our site, please write - we will try to take everything into account and use it in the further development of the site.

If you think that some important chat related to EOS is missing on our website, please write and we will add it.

It doesn't have anything on it yet, it does look like its going to scam millions of users soon. They didn't even created their own thread here in bitcointalk for the users to investigate. It all looks like the team have bagging all the tokens and wanted to sell it all to the buyers on the market while they keep dumping.
It's like what you said ,I heard the dev of EOS is a talent dev, from BTS, except this , I know nothing about EOS,

So far they are doing good in the market I don't know tomorrow, I just got my wallet activated and got Eos to my attention because of one bounty campaign and one of the gambling sites that utilize Eos which is Bethash, so far I like what I'm seeing it has  potential, Eos is one good addition to my growing portfolio.

Yes, right so far, EOS is good, indeed there are currently various slanted issues with EOS, but that does not affect the progress of EOS, the old EOS holders are still loyal to hold this coin. EOS potential is huge to compete with ETH, NEO, and others. so that it could happen someday to rival the two
