Title: How to get started
Post by: SavellM on May 09, 2013, 01:14:49 PM
So...

I have a clean new machine just for mining.
I have a mining.bitcoin.cz account.
I have a Mt.Gox account.

I have downloaded GUIminer.

Now in terms of Wallets, do I use the one over at Mt.Gox and link that to my mining.bitcoin.cz account?
If so how do I do that? Is it the link found in Mt.Gox under funding options?

Thanks :)

Leave it in your bitcoin.cz, or transfer straight to mtgox.
That you just download a local wallet. I go for a mixture of everything so if one gets lost then I don't lose everything.

Be careful leaving money/coins in Gox.  They have had several security breaches, as well as if you get a keylogger and someone gets into your account and takes your funds/coins. Keeping them in a wallet is a better option as you have to have direct access to the wallet, or the key in order to do anything with it.  If you do use Gox, I highly recommend investing in a Yubi Key for added encryption.

Wooooo

Im even more confused now lol.

Should I get an online wallet over at https://blockchain.info/wallet/ then?

If I do, how do I link that to my mining?

Ok thanks I think I go it.

So in BlockChain under Recieve Money there is a link with a random generated code.
I copy that and put it into My Account on mining.bitcoin.cz as the Bitcoin address?

You could use Blockchain.info to store some coins before sending them to MT.Gox, but remember they have a miners fee.

So what would you suggest?
Just use Mt.Gox only?

If so how do I use only them?
Do I find my key under Funding Options and then the Add Funds there is the random generated string?

And then that will go into Mining.bitcoin.cz under my account?

As for an online wallet I like coinbase.  You can link it to a bank account.  They charge 1% to exchange USD for BTC, or BTC to USD.  You can only link a US Bank to the wallet right now.  Also it takes about 4 day to transfer the funds.
