I have personally regretted selling my STRATIS at $0.3 cent, even though i was lucky to enter into its ICO and had about 55,000 strat as at then. While i sold all my coins at profit at more than 10x, i would have made about 1,000X should i have hodl, with stratis at a time hitting $10. That would have given me a $550,000 from an investment of about $400.

Having learnt from this experience do you think any already listed coin or upcoing ICO has the potential of replicating such STRATIS success story? If you are to Hodl for atleast a year which coin would you hodl and why?

In my opinion any coin that is backed up with big community such as bitcoin, litecoin , (maybe) ETH , XMR ; There are also some other alts such as dogecoin, dash ,PIVX . Litecoin price could tend to go up slowly same with few others here. Manily like eevry single coin got pumped during this year so no matter what you kept you could earn big - look at the digibyte for instance or dogecoin/ETH or any other coin.

I would hold these because they have good community behind them. I'd avoid ICOs to be honest as there is are just to many of them in the market at the moment.
Nobody knows for sure which coin will get the most gains in one year, if we all knew price of it would be high till now.

In one year the cryptospace will look completely different, much larger, much more mature.

I expect gains across all cryptocurrencies (the major ones), but you can't accurately predict who will be the most profitable.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEM, Byteball, zcash, Gnosis those are my best for now. And with on-going ICOs I would recommend: Tezoz and DIMCOIN

Stratis was a pretty interesting one. A whole bunch of people knew that the price of STRAT was going to go up since there was a bunch of updates going on with that project.
Openanx is another good coin because they are working on their own project as well. I would suggest purchasing it when the coin gets launched in exchanges.

If you are hodling for that long, go with reliability - Bitcoin and Litecoin.

Litecoin and ZenCash.

Litecoin will climb slowly but will grow. I would say the second most legitimate coin in most eyes behind Bitcoin.

ZenCash is a month old, only 1.6 million coins in circulation (21 million max). ZenCash will probably have days where the price will really pop over the next year, but how big it grows will depend on what organizations decide to use it.

Bitcoin, Byteball and Komodo is my choice. I don't beleive in LTC.

yes even me so much regret on selling my STRATIS i thought it would not go so far. I sell them September last year just to have a little profit now we know that HODL is taking so much roll on cryptocourrency coins if we just HODL there is so much profit would be made out from this. We should have short and long term for all coins that we have. Lesson learned from us. Next time sell half HODL half

I had a bunch of coins but sold them.

Now I own only BTC, Sia, LTC, in this order.

Litecoin could be a nice investment if the investor knows how to look at the chart to see the lowest point possible so they can make a purchase within that price range. If they hold the coins long enough then the price of Litecoin will go up because there would be one less person trying to sell his Litecoin for some kind of coin. Holding the coin will support those that hold the coin as well.

Currently I would suggesting investing in LTC and Sia, really good market to work it's way up to the top. There are a lot of ICOs you can invest in and can easily make a lot after a year just by holding onto them given that it's not a scam ICO but a smart one

In my opinion, one coin that I think is worth holding for at least a year or more would be NEM/XEM. If you could take a look at its progression and the projects or at least follow its twitter or facebook account and see its development, I think there is a huge potential in this coin years to come.

to hold all these coins. you would have to be a hell of a millioniare coz of their marketcap. However diversification is important as we do not really know which of them could be the biggest success story.

Litecoin.

I think that the best coins are ltc, eth and btc but they all already has their big pump in the price. Litecoin might still be good if you consider a long-term investment as you said you are. Dogecoin is worthless now but it is actually used by people, so I guess it has big chances nowadays. I would also add Waves to the list. I have watched a video about the coin and it had its pump but could pump more, I guess. It is made to allow people create tokens for anything they'd like to represent by coins. I think this idea might caught interest although it hasn't caught a lot of it yet.

Firstblood, basic attention token and bancor. Not only 1 year, they are good investment for more than 1 year as well.

I recommend that if you have the opportunity to invest in: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Zcash, Minexcoin.
Of course the first one on the list is Bitcoin.

Do your own research. Look for coins with active community and good developers. Search for coins which has higher potential and is reliable. Keep an eye on ANN threads, read what users have to say about the coins (Some might spread FUD, so be careful!). Study the market. You might want to spread your investment on different alt coins, its less riskier.

I have two coins for you that I would recommend (having only 1 in my possesion)

- Decent (heavy speculation due to token release cause a bunch of whimps wanted to dump and it recovered alright from the dump - ICO price was around 20 cents if you bought it at the end)
- TenX (just the idea is insane and it's coming around the corner)

Damn I feel sorry for you TS that you sold your STRAT so early, everyone knows that STRAT is long term magic.

I will advise to still buy more STRAT, actually they are ready for ICO's now and will launch pretty lots of stuff soon. Just buy and hold for a year atleast!

I think the coin that is worth holding for at least a year from now are the coins that had not been pumped. A successful ICO that has not rise 5x its initial ICO price and the old stable coins that had good volume every day.  I can say some of them are Wings, Maid, RLC, MCO, and KMD.

I have many coin that for sure will increase after a year . This coin for sure will increase after a year litecoin, ethereum, dash,zcash, startis, waves and ofcoarse bitcoin. So its better if you buy this coin for now so you can make a lot of profit after year. Dont waste your time dont wait this coin will increase more before you buy. I would hold ETH and Waves for long term since they are getting bemefit of ICO since they have the most popular wallet to hold tokens that is needed to lunch one's ICO.

Who knows what coin is going to able to pull a STRAT success story? the STRAT was a really incredible uprise, because it went under the radar. So you have to focus on interesting projects that are under the radar. If you buy something that is incredibly hyped, you end up buying a coin that will underperform (for example Bancor).

If you end up buying the right coin you can retire in a year, the thought task is finding the good project that's under the radar.

Waves, UBQ and LTC

A little controversial in my opinion but both Tezos and Antshares/NEO would be long term holds in my opinion. There are many dapps tokens but these are more similar to startups I would say, yes they could do well but I feel the market needs a strong third or fourth big blockchain option to both BTC and ETH especially with the current Bitcoin situation.

Both Tezos and Antshares offer very different approaches to scaling and governance which is why I think they are so valuable. I'm not a huge fan of XRP but Ripple is currently holding that place offering a different approach and tech.

Litecoin seems to be strong, especially as Charlie Lee (Creator of Litecoin) recently decided to leave Coinbase to work full time on Litecoin. I guess we will have to wait and find out :).

There will surely be many regrets after you sell your ico coin even at a 10x profit but there's nothing you can do about it now. Just keep holding eth , ltc and xmr. Eth would be long term like bitcoin , xmr you can earn by storing or can earn by trading medium term and ltc hold it till max 31st august and cashout your profit.

Bitcoin is the only one in that list that actually has a real value on it and that is if I really had to choose one out of that list. If more people saw what Bitcoin can do then the price of Bitcoin could go up so high that there wouldn’t be that many people wanting to sell it. Bitcoin can give people somewhat of a free income if they decided to hold the coin.

I think Bitsend (BSD) is worth a punt.

It's been moving up slowly, under the radar, since March and has an active dev, a great team and good tech behind it. I believe it is very under valued at the moment

Hold monero and ethereum classic. Both of these coins are being undervalued and I believe that once people realize the benefits our those digital coins, they will spend millions of dollars to buy them and the price will hit the sky

Im on the Antshares train for at least a year to see if they can deliver what they promise, I remember considering investment when it was at .50  kicking myself now for not going in than but better to get in now than pay for it down the road.

Everybody is recommending mature coins.. like stratis or monero.. they both have a market cap of about 600 mil.. so to get 500.000$ out of 500$ their market cap would have to rise to.. well a lot, really a LOT  ;D

To get a small chance at that x100-x1000 is only possible, in my opinion, if investing into coins with market cap well bellow 10 million very early, coins with great team and idea and than hold it for years..

I did invest in stratis, Antshares (NEO), Iconomi, Tenx, Status and all these investment have given a good return to me. One of the most promising project right now is NEBLIO. The reasons why i will be investing on it is 1. Definitely AiCoin. Worth holding for as long as it exists. It trades the leading 10 coins with a Machine Learning bot, which gets better the more data it collects, e.g. it gets better over time. For me, based on today's rate, i will hold on bitcoin. As we can see, bitcoin's price is still increasing continuously. And if this happens continuously within a year, then the bitcoin i hold today will be of huge amount in that day. And if you will observe, there's no signs of problem in bitcoin community, instead, more and more people getting more interested with bitcoin, providing more support to it that makes it more stable cryptocurrency. This is why i have guts to hold an amount of bitcoin in my wallet

Xspec, most undervalued privacy coin at the moment. Tech is much better than other privacy coins with a higher market cap, but xspec only lacks marketing at the moment. With the bearish market Xspec is at a nice entry point.

Ethos, will be the future coinbase

There are many criticism when it comes to SONM..but I am going to HOLD it till 2019...So for almost 1,5 years. If the project will fulfill its potential then HODLing will obviously pay me some dividends. If you'd look at their roadmap you knew that 2018 is massive for them.
Another one is Espers. Have a faith in this project and think it will survive crypto cut off (it will take place around 2019 methinks).

Holding for an year is is not a good play in my view.....any coin with a desirable team is worth considering but rotation at least for weeks is very important since this is the only year for the birth of some interesting coins which can change our future....once every coin gets stabilized,we can’t expect miracles....so at least for this year,it’s better to trade on weekly basis...

One quick look at the 3 or 6 month chart immediately shows your statement is incorrect. Why not give it a chance and read into Xspec's tech and come back and tell us how you fell then instead of making assumptions based on ...?

I think, that it will be the most solid investment, if you will buy tokens from the top 10 or top 20 cryptocurrencies. they will not make such a large growth as new tokens that are now coming on the market, but investing in the top 20 is more reliable

Check out Cashaa, their token sale has ended and it will be trading soon, ICO price was 10 cents. Expecting to see it being a $2+ coin by the end of 2018, probably higher.

i believe strong platform projects are the most worth to hold. so my biggest hope this year is a huge partnership of ICON, AION and WANCHAIN. ICX is already in top20 of Coinmarketcap but they all are just in the beginning of their path, WAN isn't even listed on the exchangers yet.

To have a look at what the future holds for great returns, you simply need to basically check the tech and the team. Doesn't matter if an ICO or a coin in exchanges for now.
This will show that it is a coin with a future and a purpose, e.g. Arcblock ICO. Once you DYOR on those, you can definitely be positive that what you have there is a good coin to invest in.

From current situation i would say the name of Raiblocks.
DAG is the hot topic now.
Raiblocks is giving the solution of scalability problem and it has fastest transaction time.
So in my opinion it is a 1 year hold from now and expected price is 100$+

Blocknet perhaps, one of my solid long term picks at least. A decentralised exchange about to launch in a world of exchange troubles. Interoperability between blockchains will be a success, and Blocknet is one of several in that sphere.

You should hold Waves i am sure waves community will wake-up soon and it will be 2x profit ahead so buy and hold waves as much as you can !!

I am currently holding some of the big  leagues in Crypto like bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin and OMG. I really don't want to invest in many coins it is giving me headaches, you know you are only one person and we have limitations in managing many crypto assets. UNLESS there are good tips on how to manage them all trading, and all.

Elecrtoneum, Stellar, Tron, and Verge. these coins will surely rise among the rest. these coins have a solid and reputable teams and posting an update from time to time on their progress. they really are working hard. Holding these coins in a year or two will surely make you rich.

Electroneum, Intense coin, Lite coin, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Omisego, Neo, verge, ADA, stellar are all worth holding a year from now.


2018 will be the year of mass adoption of crptos you cant go wrong with investing in genuine altcoins with proper teams behind them.

You should not hold only one coin, but a portfolio at once and it should include both coins and platforms. I would suggest to keep Ethereum and NEO, cause they are the main instrument of ICOs at the moment. Plus you can add ICON, VeChain, Dragonchain, ChainLink, Raiden Network and something like this

Apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum i choose Raiblocks, NEO, Elixir, Spectrecoin, Electroneum, Experience Points, INS Ecosystem, Komodo, Bitcore, BitcoinZ and DeepBrain Chain. Still looking for another promisable altcoin but so far i'm quite confident with my choices.

Dragonchain is the best bet right now. It is currently dipping and let us buy the dip as it will bounce upward very soon. Dragonchain will be listed in binance in another two or three weeks, so we can expect DragonChain will be a good hold for now and even a year later.

For me its XSPEC. Im holding a few different coins but Spectrecoin is the one that I have high hopes for. Its a solid privacy coin with POS but Stealth Staking is on the roadmap for 2018. I think if Stealth Staking is implemented its going to do huge things for the coin. Whether or not you believe its possible is one thing, but I'm speculating purely off of what I've seen the developers say. Seems like they know their stuff and it seems like a decent gamble.

ethereum is the best altcoin that is worthy to hold for long term, they are having more pumps from big whales through years, and in this 2018, ethereum is gonna rise very powerful that it may rise more than 2000$ at the end of this year. so take the chance, investing ethereum is very worthy now.

I definitely plan on holding onto my ethereum for minimum 1 yr. I think it will steadily continue to grow throughout 2018!! No short term plans on selling any of it.

Of all the coins that you have mentioned, it's given that both Bitcoin and Ethereum do have high potential as they are already proved to the general public their capability and what it can do to improve the financial status of an investor. RaiBlocks and NEO are also good picks which have the possibility of following BTC and ETH footsteps in rising up the rankings, especially with XRB which we saw its value rise up dramatically for just a month. While the others, they don't seem enticing and I feel that they won't be able to achieve the kind of success like the other top coins did.

Deeponion, still flying under the radar with it's low market-cap. The community is growing and growing, and you can get them realllllly cheap right now. I think it is seriously undervalued at the moment.
Also, to diversify some bigger, yet higher market-cap, coins like NEO, Waves, Ltc, Eth, Tron etc.

Many coins are worth holding for even more than a year like bitcoin, ethereum and ripple, for example, are good for long term hold. Some coins that supported by well-known companies will likely to continue to make stable profits in the long run. Altcoins that are established and being developed continuously, having a good platforms,  and with good development team should consider also for long term hold. Stable cryptocurrencie are better because their price will continue to rise even without a hype.

I think different things work for different people. I am never a big fan of trading. simply because i do know my limitation. However if it works for you and as long as more money is getting into your portfolio bravo. I am a big fan of finding a good project and hodling.

Ethereum has grown alot although you can make profit there but it isnt like the new altcoins that can make you more profits in the future. Icon and Wanchain is a good pick i expect a massive gains after this two alts especially wanchain is the most awaited alt to be added in exchange while icon was still cheap in my opinion.

Normally, I would answer Bitcoin for a long-term investment like this. But this time I will answer Ethereum only. Why ? That's because Ethereum has a small fee, unlike Bitcoin. Currently the price of Bitcoin has become very high, so the fee also comes high and to do transactions using Bitcoin will be more difficult. Maybe in the future there will be more sophisticated technology to solve this problem. But for now, Ethereum is the best choice to invest Altcoin and cryptocurrency. Or maybe you have better advice to invest in some other crypto I do not know yet.

I think ETH still be the best altcoin for this year.. we can see that a lot of other altcoins grow fast, but I don't think any of them can overtake ETH this year

I think most of the coins are worth holding for a year. They all have a chance to be in a pump scheme.

The top 100 coins, especially ethereum, cardano, monero, lisk, steem, ethos. Utrust is not a top 100, but i will hodl it for a long time.

In my own opinion,i think ETH also worth holding atleast a year from now. In fact,the odds of some other coins are very high also. But those odds are keeping investors looking down-market at lower-price coins.I also consider looking to some other new coins that are worth holding for a long term.

In my opinion this is stratis. There will be some nice airdrops in the coming period which will cause a price increase. Additionally this platform is growing rapidly, the developers are working hard on this platform and it seems they are going into competitition with ethereum.

If we look at February 3 2018 to February 3 2019 I would hold my ETH, NEO and VEN. I believe these platform coins will rise like Bitcoin. I have other coins in my mind but I trust these ones most.

Yes, Cardano project is a very ambitious and good one. But for long term investment I think it's not good because its supply is really too high (31,112,483,745 ADA). No coin with a such supply could ever reach a high price.

A safe choice would be ETH. This coin shows steady and stable growth in the past months. You may yield more profits with alts but also with higher risks.

In 2018 there will be new great projects with new crypto giants. But personally I would suggest to invest into ETC, BCH, VIBE, HSR, LMC, IOTA, OMG, WAVES, ICX, 1st Blood. However, in any case, I will invest main part of my money into bitcoin and ethereum.

I have been holding for a few coins and it has been almost a year now that I kept these coins, to name a few these are Ethereum, Siacoin, Digibyte, NEM, Litecoin which was from myfaucet claiming days and Waves.

today i've taken a small position in CargoX (CXO) and QLINK (QLC)

CXO - Bill of Laden shipping documents on blockchain - will help cut logistical costs for the shipping industry and so forth..

QLINK - decentralized mobile network, has a prototype of station and will eventually have car companies install them to provide wifi/4g coverage

So, it's been a year and most of these suggestions have weathered pretty badly compared to Bitcoin. Waves, Litecoin, Siacoin, Stratis...

I got this token from the airdrop last march maybe and definitely i will hold it for a year or 2 because there is a chance it would go up to $1 or more like ripple, this was HYDRO token and it has only 11billion max supply unlike ripple 100billion so i was hoping it will surpass ripple soon.

Yes, there is such a coin and I really believe in it. On coinmarketcap you can find it by the abbreviation "UTNp". Already has a large number of large agreements, develops its cold wallet, has a promising team and as soon as it appears on smaller smaller exchanges it should take off.

In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.
I was asking myself what to do when cryptocurrency goes down and found out that the most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

I believe so with Utrust and now that it insanely dump I guess some lose their hopes in this project yet hopefully they get back on the track. Also I'm seeing WePower as a potential one and it also having its dip at the moment but this project is really good in terms of long term holding.

it seems you do not keep altcoin too long because altcoin is still very cheap price is actually very risky could be altcoin prices will be destroyed at the end of the year so you better hold a really trusted coin like bitcoin.

I think PRiVCY, WAGE, WAVES, BTC, ETH, LTC, MAG, BUZZ are the coins that are best to HODL for at least a year. These coins that I mentioned have potential to increase its value within the year when alts season come. I do not mind the loss in my portfolio currently because I don't need the money yet. I will only sell once I am satisfied with my earnings.

Bitcoin is very popular and many people want to hold it for long term. But if you want to hold more coin try to look at the market cap and research about the coin listed on the market, and if you think that coin is good to hold for long term then buy now while the price is still cheap .

Wow, quite some support for XSPEC here! There is actually one more important argument for this coin, that I couldn't find in the last few posts, but it is very important IMO. There is now a new, bigger dev team with stable funding now. Many criticise this as leading to centralisation, etc, but I almost exclusively lay my money in projects that is not developed by a guy or two on weekends or when they feel like, but by a proper dev team with long term funding. I find it rather obvious, especially in case of smaller projects, that a solid income for the dev team leads to a lot quicker development. And as long as something is open source, it cannot really be centralised. Besides, name just one 100% decentralised coin. There's none. I am really happy that XSPEC is finally lead by a proper team. The idea, the project itself totally deserves it.

I will say that ethereum is a very good coin for hold on long term because it has very good potentials, good technology and also very good team members and a very good community that support it. ICOs also make use of this blockchain for their transaction. You can buy and hold it for as long as you want and you will make profit from it.
