Title: First time building a rig. Need feedback
Post by: cheroz on July 06, 2017, 01:47:46 PM
So this is my first time attempting to build a 6 GPU mining rig specifically for Ethereum.
This is my build list:

  • MOBO: MSI Z270 A Pro
  • CPU: Intel Celeron 3900 2.8 GHz
  • SSD: SanDisk Plus 120GB
  • RAM: Corsair Value Select 4GB DDR4
  • PSU: EVGA Supernova G3 1000W 80+ Gold
  • GPU: 2x Sapphire RX 480 Nitro OC 8GB
  • GPU: 2x Powercolor RX 570 Red Devil 4GB
  • GPU: 1x ASUS RX 570 Expedition OC 4GB
  • GPU: 1x MSI RX 570 Gaming X 4GB

I had a hard time trying to find any RX 4xx 5xx GPUs on several Amazon domains (.de, .it, .co.uk) but I managed to get my hands on 6 In the span of 1 week and I have overpaid for each of them.

I have managed to get the 2 Sapphire RX 480s to 28 Mh/s and 90W power draw and the ASUS RX 570 to 27 Mh/s and 90W power draw. I'm still waiting for the 2 Powercolor RX 570s and can't test the MSI RX 570 because it can't fit in my current pc case :p.

I want to get some feedback on this build as to what I might have overlooked in parts or any tips in general.

My rig with 5 rx 480 has a consumption of 1100 W in full load, I should you suggest to buy a bigger power supply, maybe segotep gp1350g is a good choise for your rig.

I don't think it will reach those levels at all. 1000W should be more than enough for 4 RX 570s and 2 RX 480s, take into account that I'm using modded bios aimed toward powersaving.
