I really like this project using token economics to bootstrap "good" projects and add value to worthwhile projects that don't have enough intrinsic economic incentive makes so much sense.  Even if the token doesn't dramatically increase in value, just having this mechanism both serves the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency and provides an anchor to charitable projects, but in a decentralized way.

Hey everyone, A BIG announcement.  Thanks for all your incredible help during the past ten days!  We met our goal, in really, really difficult market conditions.  We're so proud of the team that's come together and all we've accomplished.  Together,

- We've raised 122% of our goal, with a mean contribution of just 3.75 ether.  
- We've translated our material into a large number of languages
- We've built a 720 person community here on Slack, making our first hires and brought some really dedicated volunteers together with incredible bounty campaigners.
- We've generated interest among some very big names and powerful players
- We've refined our message and learned from one another.

Anton, Chris and I are proud of our role in that, as well.  But, we made one big mistake:  In trying to adhere to the lessons Chris and I have learned the hard way from our tech start ups (release early, go fast, iterate) we underestimated the necessary time lag involved when organizing a campaign.  We knew from shopping around the whitepaper that we had a powerful idea that a community could rally around.  But we went TOO fast.  You guys probably recall last Wednesday, the lull from the first excitement but the day before we got our material up on some listing sites, and started communicating our ideas better to the public.  That made Thursday, Friday and today all the better.  But we still were left with only three business days with this organization fully up and running.  

It seems almost absurd to get such a team up and running and then use it fully for just three weekdays, only to pause until the ICO.  So, Chris, Anton and I talked about it, and we've decided to extend the pre-ICO until the following Friday, the 28th.  The team is in place, the work is being done, and why stop?  Learning from our mistake - and concerned about BIP 148 - we're also pushing the ICO itself back to Tuesday, September 5th, the day after Labor Day.  

Important things to know:  
- We will accelerate the release of the tokens relative to the ICO.  So, this delay will only push the release of the tokens back 4-5 days from the originally promised date.  (pushing the ICO back a bit less than 4 weeks, but the token release date up three weeks, relative to the ICO end date).  
- We will remove the hard cap of $300k.  If donations accelerate too much, we will close it down, as we don't want to let a market-significant share of tokens be awared with a 50% premium.  We want to have the time and resources to have a truly world-class ICO.

Yes! This kind of project is actually long overdue. For so long, what we are doing in the world of cryptos is pursuing gains and profits all the time.

This project provided us some kind of a pause to think of the rest of humanity, and share some of what we've been gaining so far.

Investors are attempting to value their holdings on a risk-adjusted basis. This is true, but in my opinion the majority of people that invest in ICOs are doing it to dump their token asap for profit.

The idea behind what Dr. Nicholas Adams Judge opened my mind on how ICO's is good for the environment on cryptocurrency. With ICO running on the market the flow of cryptocurrency never stops and market cap keep on increasing and increasing for a certain coin. Love the fact that the ETH per amount of Pre-ICO and ICO tokens stays the same.  You don't get shafted if there are really high volume of donations for a particular day.

This is a truly interesting project.  There's already a few niche non-profit projects out there.  EGC comes to mind, and EGC is already doing directly beneficial projects AND is still innovating on their coin, however their scope is relatively narrow.

I see a great potential for non-profit/NGO development based on distributed ownership and DAO models that allow the supporters to be directly involved in their charitable giving.  This is certainly a viable use case for blockchain that will add functionality over existing models.

As with any charity though, profit should not be the prime motivator and success ultimately will depend on the core team and supporting communities' dedication and trustworthiness.  I've contributed a small amount to ROOTS and hope to see some real benefit from it, even if it's not in making myself more money.

RootProject has a very interesting idea for a start up. I wish the project had a successful ICO and further implementation of its roadmap points and plans! I'm absolutely taking part in this ICO myself.

One side some people hacked and run with approx $10M hard earned money of other people around the world and on other side some hardworking and dedicated people are working for social cause and to help others to fulfill their dreams.RootProject is working for this cause and start their work with announcement of its project's first grant of $22k.Congratulation to ROOTS team members and keep it up.

I like the animated video. started from the roots up into a tree, the tree can produce fruit that can become stock. from one person to be a great community. and ultimately the community that make it into a big tree and benefit even more. Great project and success for this project.
