Title: APW5 PSU by Antminer
Post by: btcromania on July 07, 2017, 10:32:03 AM
Hello all, i need some suggestions:

I have an APW5 psu. I've bought it as a powers supply for 2 R4.

Now, one of my R4 is on the way to be repaired and i have an S9 more.

My voltage is 220v, so the maximum powers of this PSU results 2600W.

The question is: can i plug on this PSU a R4 and a S9?

Thanks all

I think it should work, but I'm not 100% sure on this, since the total watt usage you have is probably around 2100W and the PSU does 2600W at 230V. From what I've noticed these asic miners require a PSU that has at least 30%-40% more than the required watt capacity of the miner.

It definitely would not work with 2 S9s though  ;)

The "more capacity than needed" principle is not the case with server grade psu's.
This APW5 can take the rated max. capacity.

I suggest you have a dedicated 230V 16A circuit for it, so only 1x APW5 connected to that circuit.
