and you are about more than half a year late to the bitcoin price catching up gold. or as they called it gold price parity.

1 OZ gold is $1222 at the moment by the way. and bitcoin price is $2530

Flippening refers to the moment when a cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin exceeds Bitcoin's market cap, thus flipping the mainstream cryptocurrency from Bitcoin to something else. It's an acknowledgement to the investment success and a nod to the potential investment future of the cryptocurrency world.

Most think Ethereum will surpass Bitcoin in market cap. Keep in mind that Ethereum is not a competitor currency to Bitcoin (although a lot of people and the news think that it is, incorrectly, all the fucking time.) Ethereum is not a monetary currency...it's token's value is for processing power for their blockchain platform.

Exactly. Fippening is calculated based on market cap. Now apart from cryptocurrencies if you add an asset like gold to compare if bitcoin is fippening gold then no. Price of one bitcoin has surpassed price of one ounce of gold, but the market cap of gold is $8.2 trillion while bitcoins is $41 billion. Bitcoin has flipped silver.

I blame fappening! ever since it happened everyone is inventing these meaningless words to mean something they don't even understand themselves :)
and in case of "flipenning" it has nothing to do with market cap. it was an advertising technique used by ethereum shills to pump their coin by pretending it will replace bitcoin and you no longer hear it ever since eth price started dropping.

Haha, a bit too late there mate, bitcoin has far surpassed gold by almost 2 times now. Oh yeah and  the word you used "flipenning" has no relevance to bitcoin or currencies even. If i am not mistaken, I am pretty sure it was a technique used by Ethereum shills to promote their coin by pretending that some how it would overtake bitcoin, causing some people to get fooled and invest, but ETH shills has no longer used it since the price has dropped.

Bitcoin overtaking gold was one of the most important milestones of bitcoin, since it solidified it's position as a form of investment and also helped grow bitcoin into what it is today.

not only the current value of gold, but the all time high of gold was surpassed as well, which is if i'm not mistaken, around $2k, so current bitcoin value is higher than that too

since that $2k high for gold is very old, i don't think gold will be able ever to return to that point, because now it's also less rare than the past

So one bitcoin is worth more than an ounce of gold....

Because by our measurements bitcoin has surpassed gold when it was at 40$.

First I was confused when I saw the title of your post, then I got more confused when I read your post lol. That's not the meaning of flippening dude, I think you should Google it.  ;D

That is known already and bitcoins has already flipped the market of metal upside down. Of course that is why bitcoin is worth investing than gold and I always smell profits in that investment. Good to know by the way you taking interest in this news. Its never too late. :-)

A real flippening would be fun which places bitcoin at several hundred thousand dollars a piece.

Until then it's just a sliding scale of arbitrary numbers and comparisons to fit whatever narrative you fancy.

I understand the point. The information is late, at least there is a message delivered Bitcoin will be an expensive commodity over gold.

Bitcoin have crossed gold price a long time ago and several discussion were made on that topic few months ago.

There is nothing new in that. Bitcoin hit gold a month ago already when the price came close to 3000$, so this is second time and there is nothing breaking news in this info.

You're really behind the times bud, the value of 1 Bitcoin has been higher than that of an ounce of gold for a relatively long time, even if it was just something like 6 months ago since that happened. Either way, this is a post that should have been made months ago, not now.

And the results of the ""flippening"" you declare are lackluster at best, nothing really happened and everyone is carrying on as normal.

Flippening is a term derived for when another cryptocurrency (other than bitcoin), exceeds Bitcoin's market cap. Hence, Bitcoin's control over the market as the mainstream cryptocurrency is removed and handed over to the Altcoin. Before I used to think that this is impossible, but then Ethereum came into play. Its market cap rose by hell. The last time I checked it had 32% dominance in the crypto market. bitcoin had 40%.

So the use of flippening there was incorrect.

I get a felling that this thread is spam. I mean Bitcoin price is already double the price of gold. It overtook gold a long time ago. I don't understand why you would mention it now. But even though Bitcoin has surpassed gold, it does not mean that gold is completely useless. Gold is a great asset and investment. Everyone want gold and the price would continue to rise. Steadily, but surely. Bitcoin on the other hand varies. People leave an people join so the price is in constant flux. Completely volatile. Some day Bitcoin might even drop completely to be completely worthless, but than can never happen for gold.
