Title: Anyone else more suspicious of someone after they make a "reputation thread"?
Post by: Este Nuno on May 11, 2013, 10:36:48 AM
I just get a weird feeling when people are going out of their way to show how good their "reputation" is.

And this is bitcoin after all...

Yes, just like how when someone says their investment is solid or they write in capslock.

They're clogging up the off-topic board >:(  I once called that home.  Now I have to wear a suit and tie everytime I decide to look at it.

I won't do business with anyone who posts a reputation thread.  It's odd to have to announce how you can be trusted.

It's getting pretty damned ridiculous.

Trashcan would make a better home for reputation threads than Off-topic.

Yes, I thought it was just me. They are the last ones I would deal with.

I'm in between. On one hand I agree with you guys that it is a bit suspicious to have a reputation thread or to have the need to have a reputation thread, but on the other hand I can see the advantages it has because you can keep all your feedback in one thread, and if anyone ever asks for feedback about you, you can point them to one thread rather than to multiple threads.

I can only assume you're talking about the newbies here (in which case I agree), but when you've been an active member here for 2 years and started numerous businesses, I think it's alright to have a feedback/reputation thread to help clean the forums up, consolidate feedback, and provide a transparent medium for both positive and negative feedback.

edit: Also, apologies if my thread had started the trend.

Well, your case is certainly unique...

The off-topic forum snobs are here!
It isn't a problem yet, but if 100+ threads are updated regularly just for reps... it could get tough to navigate through our home.
I wouldn't mind if there was a designated subforum for reputation, perhaps in the Marketplace section.
