Title: offline transactions
Post by: kellrobinson on May 11, 2013, 08:22:57 PM
I'd like to buy things from merchants who accept bitcoin.  I have a Nexus 7 tablet that I want to use.  I don't have a smartphone, and can't depend on always having a good wifi connection for the tablet, so I need a wallet that resides on the device and can make a transaction using QR code and/or near field.  No online connection.  The merchant will presumably have an internet connection and can verify receipt, which is all that's necessary.  I just need a wallet that can send a coin to him without an internet connection.  Do you ever make purchases this way, and what's your solution?

I'm not aware of any merchants that are set up to receive payments in this manner.  Theoretically/technically it would be possible, but it would require the merchant to have/create their own special software for the purpose.
