Title: Wired.com Takes on Butterfly Labs?
Post by: NutCoin on May 11, 2013, 09:38:17 PM
Hi guys,

I was just reading a thread about the Butterfly Labs rig being a complete scam, but I couldn't filter through 50+ pages of conversation. I've just been reading this article - http://www.bitcoinpoker.org/news/wired-com-uses-light-bulb-processor-to-mine-bitcoin/ (http://www.bitcoinpoker.org/news/wired-com-uses-light-bulb-processor-to-mine-bitcoin/) - about Wired.com taking on the Butterfly Lab rig for $274 and then making back $220 in just a few days. Seems a little too good to be true but I'm inclined to believe such a recognised brand?

Original Wired.com announcement - http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2013/05/butterfly_live/ (http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2013/05/butterfly_live/)

Didn't look like they took on BFL. It was waaaaay more positive than it was negative.

Heck I almost placed an order myself after reading it.

If you order one now, you may get it before 2015, if you're lucky and if the stars line up just right, and if BFL stays open without get shut down for 1 of about 5 reasons I could name without even thinking too hard.

Really? They weren't using the BFL rig?

"It’s a live feed of the Bitcoin miner that the folks at Butterfly Labs shipped us last week."

Let me know man, I was the same as you and about to click 'buy' :P

The world’s most popular digital currency really is nothing more than an abstraction. So we’re destroying the private key used by our Bitcon wallet.

WHAT

Seems like they are really desperate to discredit Bitcoin, wonder what's the motive.

Truth be told, BFL is blowing smoke a lot of the time and that's what they're catching flack for. They're saying what they have to say to get the pre-orders in and dealing with the fall out later. It's irresponsible but seems to be working out for them.

have a bunch of consumers pay for development then make rigs and mine with them then release them whenever we want.  Great business model

I'm getting the slightest tingling sensation from being on earth.. that greed and emotion drive the market and might make the world go round.

People have been waiting for more than a year after placing their orders. I dont think this is a good investment
