Do you have password enabled for the wallet? If yes, you will need it to unlock your wallet first.

Press the little sprout on tbe bottom right corner and you should be able to unlock the wallet or see the seed.

How did you create the wallet? If you chose Standard Wallet and "Create a new seed", you shouldn't have a problem. Did you import private keys into the client?

Click "wallet" in the menu bar at the top of electrum's GUI, then click "seed" in the drop down list that appears.

If "seed" is greyed out in the drop down list as shown in this screenshot your wallet might be watching only.

Is "seed" greyed out in the drop down list in your wallet?

Were you displayed the seeds when you first created the wallet?

Can you go to "send" tab. Does it look like: https://i.imgur.com/df2gD7j.png. Is the "send" button visible?

What version of electrum are you using, and where did you download its installer from?

It should tell you the version in the electrum window title bar. If it doesn't you can find the version by clicking "help", then selecting "about" in the drop down menu that appears.

That's the latest version that you are running. Did you use a password when you created your wallet, or did you leave the password field blank?

If you left the password blank you should be able to open the default_wallet file in the appdata\Electrum folder and read the seed in it.

To open that folder copy the line of text below, click the windows start button, paste the text into the search box, then press your enter key.

%appdata%\Electrum

Yes if electrum will let you send coins. However, you mentioned having a red disc at the bottom right of your wallet. If it looked like the one in the screenshot it means your wallet has no network connection.

https://i.imgur.com/MaiHaWF.png

You might be able to fix the problem by double clicking the red disc and unchecking "select server automatically" in the window that opens. After that you should be able to select a server from a list and click the OK button to test if your wallet is connecting to the server. Keep repeating the procedure until the red disc turns green, then you can send coins.

You won't be able to read a seed inside a wallet file if you used a password in electrum version is 2.8.3. Using a password encrypts a wallet file, which makes its stored seed unreadable.

If you left the password blank your seed would have been written in plain text inside the wallet file. A text editor like notepad could have shown it.

You could try creating an offline transaction to send your coins, then broadcast it through a website.

First you will have to change your electrum's settings to manually select the fee you pay (and disable dynamic fees). This website can tell you the best fee to pay.

https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

Afterwards click the preview button when making a transaction.

https://i.imgur.com/5UI0amB.png

Click the copy button in the window that opens.

https://i.imgur.com/21o06Xd.png

Open this webpage, paste your transaction into the text box, then click the submit button.

https://coinb.in/#broadcast

That should send your transaction to the Bitcoin network even if electrum can't connect to it.

Does the top of your electrum GUI show "watching only" like in the screenshot?

https://i.imgur.com/jyU5N5P.png

If that's what it says then you need either a private key, or seed words to create a wallet were you can send your funds. It's not possible to convert a watching only wallet to a normal wallet. You have to create a new wallet using either private keys, or seed words.

You need at least one private key that corresponds to an address containing Bitcoins. If you have more than one private key you can import them all into the same wallet.

I can't advise you about the mobile electrum wallet because I haven't used it yet.

What happens when you go to wallet menu > seed? Is that greyed out too?

The only type of standard wallet with no seed is a wallet created using imported private keys. That is what you have. If you want a deterministic wallet then you should create a new wallet and then move your bitcoins to it:

How many times have you installed electrum?

The standard desktop software automatically detects old default_wallet files left over from previous installations. The default_wallet file gets written to a folder named Electrum that's in a hidden folder named appdata.

These webpage links explain how to import private keys into electrum.

http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#can-i-import-private-keys-from-other-bitcoin-clients

http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#can-i-sweep-private-keys-from-other-bitcoin-clients

Sweeping is better than importing, but it's not too important which technique you use, either will do.

This screenshot shows how to import multiple private keys into electrum at the same time.

Electrum on Android shows pretty much the same options when you set the wallet up for the first time:

https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/15/zqeWd.png?1    https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/15/zq0C5.png?1   https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/15/zqlYz.png?1

You should be able to select "Standard Wallet" -> "Use public or private keys" and then Paste all your private keys.  NOTE: you cannot "type" the keys in, you can only "Paste" or scan a QR code to enter the key. So you'd need to have all you private keys in a text list so you can copy/paste them.

ok now i have normal wallet and i want to send btc from my watch only wallet to my new one, how can i do it without seed,i have private keys..any sergestions, please?
In any case, if the OP has successfully created a "normal" wallet (I assume they mean a "Standard wallet" with a 12 word seed), they should just sweep the keys (Wallet -> Private Keys -> Sweep) and get all their coins into that wallet.

You can enter a seed created on Desktop Electrum into Android Electrum and it will generate the same addresses/keys...

If the next button stays greyed out when you paste your private keys in... then they're not in the right format... are your private keys 51 or 52 characters long, and do they start with a 5, L or K?

Like these:
5Kb8kLf9zgWQnogidDA76MzPL6TsZZY36hWXMssSzNydYXYB9KF
KwntMbt59tTsj8xqpqYqRRWufyjGunvhSyeMo3NTYpFYzZbXJ5Hp
L4TT6waRiu1W5CgjPifyGFzCok21mSh2oE9Ly62457nnaJftM14V

i was able to create watch only wallet with my public keys ,but can not sweep my private keys...may be i cant have watch only wallet and regular at the same time?
Are you making these wallets on mobile or on Desktop Electrum?

is it possible to use my bitcoin address instead my private keys?

if you have your private keys you can create a new electrum wallet with them. Here are instructions for how to do that on a PC:

https://bitcoinelectrum.com/importing-your-private-keys-into-electrum/

Here are answers to some of your other questions:

Each address has a different key pair behind it. Private and public keys. The public key is derived from the private key and is mathematically related to it. The address is derived from the public key.

Private keys are not the same as public keys. Private keys are secret while public keys are not. Knowledge of the private key allows a person to spend money sent to the corresponding address.

You can see what private keys look like here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Private_key#Base58_Wallet_Import_format . Addresses are shorter and begin with 1 or 3 https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Address. Public keys are large hexadecimal strings ( case insensitive 0-9,a-f).

Watch-only wallets don't have private keys in them so you can't spend from watch-only wallets.

All private keys in an electrum wallet are derived from the seed. Therefore backing up the seed allows you to recreate your whole wallet.

you can import one or many private keys, but it would appear that on Android you can only import keys when you first set up a wallet. I couldn't find a way to import keys after the wallet has been first created.

if I accidently deleted wallet can I reinstall it some how?
If you have the private keys (or seed of the wallet was an HD wallet) then you can recreate (or restore) the wallet by simply creating a new wallet and importing the private keys again (or restoring from seed).

You say you don't have the a seed and only have private keys, so you'll need to import them into a new wallet.

Would you be willing to explain exactly what you did in the end to recover your coins? I'm sure other users with similar issues will find it helpful in the future to know what you did to fix the problem :)

It will also help the "helpers" like myself know what works and what doesn't ;)
