Title: State your position
Post by: adpinbr on May 12, 2013, 01:18:44 AM
This is a head count. Please state wether you are a bear or a bull, Wether you are a believer or just here for the money, and an explanation for your position. Please keep posts on topic and try to limit one per user. this is not a debate, the point of this thread is to get an idea of where the bit coins community's head is at, and to present a historical reference to a members position on a certain date.

Im a long term BTC bull, short term i am in LTC.

I believe that the price of bitcoin will change over some short or long period of time.

Neither bear nor bull.

I'd call myself a dragon but it has no real meaning other than I want to slowly build up some shiny wealth and horde it in my den.

I'm in BTC (If I don't burn out) for the long run, and not really interested in any of the other alt currencies. I like BTC and think it has a future; I'd like to be a part of that future.

As far as BTC is concerned I'm a short term bear, long term bull, and nothing for the midterm.

That is all.

Short term bear (weeks)
Mid term neutral (months)
Long term bull (years)
Super-long term bear(decades)

I believe the price of bitcoin will change, in the future. It will go down, and up, and down, and up, but not necessarily in that order, and the downs won't necessarily cancel out the ups (or vice versa.)

I "believe" in Bitcoin as a monumental technological innovation and a really cool way to fight the bankster cartel, just as much as the next person - in fact, probably more than the next person. However, I would be lying if I said part of the reason I was involved didn't have anything to do with my thousands of % of gains. Did I shatter your artificial dichotomy at all? ;D

- I use Bitcoin mainly for purchases, mid-term savings, and "lite" speculation that is more like market-making with orders on either side that are frequently adjusted. I make very small gains but I do my small part to help keep the price stable. Of course, the deflationary aspect is nice because it makes me money, and if someone takes it (i.e. it goes down in value), it'll be a bunch of panic-selling bears and I'd rather them have it than whichever too-big-to-fail bank is being bailed out next. I don't have more invested than I can afford to lose.
-I use alt-coins mainly for speculation although Namecoin has a neat concept and I'm sure we'll be seeing some really cool use-cases for similar technologies in the years to come.

I actually agree with ElectricMucus here; except for short-term bear. I'm pretty darned neutral short-term. And super-long term bear is spot on - as great as Bitcoin is, there are too many innovative theories regarding currency (or lack thereof) in the future to assume that it will be used for the next century. Bitcoin is just our shortcut to get rid of the banksters, courtesy of Satoshi.

Short-term mildly bullish, medium-term moderately bullish, long-term very bullish. I expect continued fast exponential growth once this recent bubble is a few more days/weeks/months in the past.

Cryptocurrencies and related systems are the future and will precipitate a cascade of changes that will so drastically alter the face of the planet that no one can imagine what a decade from now will be like. It will almost certainly be a more free and vastly more prosperous world.

I like both the financial gains and the world-changing aspects about equally.

What innovative theories? Are you talking about theories that already exist or theories that have not yet been formulated?

short/midterm neutral, if infrastructure develops mid/long term bull (wait and see)

I went all in at $118, not because it was the ideal price but because if I believe in something enough, well, that was in the region of the price I was willing to pay... any extra dollars I spent can circulate the bitcoin community and someone can profit from it.

Have invested all my coins back into the community into ASICMINER for roughly 6 months then re-assess.

Will buy more lower and higher, and aim to use bitcoin when I can from the dividends I get from the shares.

i went also all in 118.. been slowly buying them last friday ..
i have no idea why i found this price to be ok for me but i'm holding on to it .. selling would harm me more then to hold (no volume enough).

lets see how this turns out..

edit: i bought in with a long term view...     i'll be playing around with short term too..  doesnt matter if price goes up or down for that.. always opportunity ;)

I want to use bitcoin as my primary currency, I wish to use bitcoin worldwide in different places.

I have a love for Bitcoin and not in it for just cashing out if it hits big numbers.

I want to create a business which accepts bitcoin as a payment.
I want to be able to say I was part of Bitcoin and helped it grow.

I love Bitcoin.

Long term bull on Cryptocurrency.  Not sure if Bitcoin will be it, but will (hopefully) be the progenitor of what will become a global currency driven by people instead of a state.

Short term... hold on, it's going to be a crazy friggin ride!

LOL this.

You are a rarity, to admit lack of understanding but hold a passion for the experiment, optimism in its implementation and value, not one to predict its future but hope and envision a prosperous future.  You, and others like you over the course of time , will be why it succeeds.  Faith is powerful when proof of work and stability are the ground work.

I'm no bear. I'm no bull. I have no bloody clue where the price is going.

I'm here because I believe in the technology. It's an incredible, revolutionary thing, and can help people escape bank and money-transferrer bullshit even if bitcoins-as-currency don't take off. It's very exciting.

Short term bear. We are 32 days past the bubble peak and prices have fallen by half - yet remain 8x times greater than back in January when a bitcoin could be purchased for $13.50.

Long term bull - bitcoin will be worth over 100K USD each I believe.

Buy one bitcoin now. Small risk. Potentially huge payoff. If it were to hit 10k, 50k, 100k, etc like some people believe (and I think it has better chance of doing so than winning anything real at a Casino) then you can pay cash for a house or something else to help ease your life.

It it becomes worthless, well, $100 is not a big loss for the chance.

Short term bear. I think it is unlikely that this stagnation will break upwards in any significant way.

Mid term, hard to say. Long term, fairly bullish (with big caveats).

i believe bitcoin will pave the way to the future resource based economy  8)

Good to see a fellow zeitgeist idealist in here. :D I think a resource based economy is still far away, and I'm not sure how bitcoin will get us there, but I do believe bitcoin could be a big step forward from where we are now at least. I like how it is a movement created from the bottom up, and how it can challenge the status quo in a non-violent manner. That's a big reason why I want to be a part of this, I'm an ideological bitcoin enthousiast who isn't scared to lose money over it as long as it achieves its goal of freeing us from the shackles of the current destructive economic paradigm. I learned about bitcoin in 2012 when I was doing research into the global economy but didn't really try to understand the concept of bitcoin seriously until it suddenly gained value quickly this year and I saw it climb above $40. I almost wanted to panic buy at that point but I decided I needed to learn more about it first and I was also worried this could be a bubble that was about to pop. After becoming really enthousiastic about it I wanted to wait for the price to come down first but then decided to buy anyway since I'm in it for my ideals and not for the money. Lost quite some value when the big correction took place but didn't panic and just bought some more coins between $50 and $70. Now I'm usually between 70/30 and all in on BTC/fiat, I prefer to just purchase more coins when the price drops instead of selling high and hoping it goes down again. I just can't feel comfortable for some reason being bearish about bitcoin. This is my bias I know, but that's fine because I'm not a serious trader anyway. :)

It's highly dependent on where the price goes between now and then, really.  If the price heads down like I believe it will, a few months down the road should present us with a good buying opportunity.

Not a flippant reply but it really depends what time of what day you ask me.

To polarise your opinion into bullish or bearish is impossible for some and foolish for others.

That said, I wouldn't be holding BTC if I wasn't mid to long-term bullish.

If I was bearish I'd be holding more fiat or other altcoins than I do.

If I was REALLY bearish I'd not have a cent on any exchange.
