Title: Unconfirmed Parent in Electrum
Post by: braggy222 on July 19, 2017, 01:25:42 AM
Hi All, I';m a long time lurker on here but never had to post until now.

I've been using electrum for about 6 months without issue but yesterday received an incoming payment and after 16 hours it's still sitting at the top of my list saying "unconfirmed parent"

My balance doesn't reflect it but has [+0.11632116 unconfirmed] down the bottom.

Ive checked the txID etc on blockexplorer and it seems like its all been confirmed so I'm unsure why this is the case. Shutdown and restarted my wallet several times but no good.

I notice there is an option for child to pay for parent but I am reluctant to use a feature I know little to nothing about. Any help would be much appreciated! :)

txID is : 200f3478504ff4c1d3a013d0a03c14585f91b39559f39ee936eed441f210bb7f

That transaction's already confirmed. There must be a problem with your electrum wallet. Is there a red orb at the bottom right of your wallet's GUI like this one, or is it green?

If it's red your wallet can't connect to the network. If it's green your wallet might be connected to a server that doesn't have an up to date blockchain. You can try fixing it by double clicking the orb and unchecking "select server automatically" in the window that opens, then selecting a server from the list that appears.

Afterwards click the OK button to close the window and check if your transaction shows as confirmed. Try a few different servers and if it doesn't fix your transaction then the problem must be due to something else.

Yeah my connection is green.

Tried running through tor proxy but same result.

Ive tried 4 different servers, all the same result.

Am I able to spend this coin or will that cause problems?

Yeah, it does seem like something to do with my actual wallet on my machine as my android wallet doesn't show any problems..

I would try restoring your seed to a new wallet and see if it is showing the same issue.

"File -> New/Restore" -> Give is a new name like "RestoredWallet" -> "Standard Wallet" -> "I already have a seed"

If the newly restored wallet is also displaying it incorrectly, it might be something slightly "non-standard" about the transaction causing issues...

I notice that the 0.11632116 was recently (21 blocks) sent on (https://blockchain.info/tx/ebc0912e3f971b8df67765e46a1968c7592d5ed8405d1499136915ab764f4e64)... did you manage to get it all sorted in the end? What solved it?
