How is Bitcoin adoption doing in latin america? Is there widespread usage? People from Latin America please share your perspectives and experiences. thank you.

I think that bitcoin is pretty popular in Venezuela because of the huge inflation and because the people want a way to export their money outside the country.I don`t have much information about bitcoin adoption in the other Latin American countries.There were some news about Uruguay creating a cashless society and the government forcing people to use banks for all their transactions.This should help for btc adoption in Uruguay.

Yes,this site is full of informations you do need specially when talking about bitcoin and also on other altcoins in the market. Just want to know what you mean about upgrade? Back to topic have heard some news about this one but as far as I know they are being restricted of their government which is really a disaster for those who do really likes to use bitcoin but doesn't matter since bitcoin can be transacted underground.

Isn't it too far from the topic being asked? If you really want to discuss such thing I think it better of you include the upgrade you want to make.

If bitcoin would be accepted in the latin america, it will have a great impact in the bitcoin industry. Wait for some credible news.

I also know that bitcoin is well known in Venezuela because it is being used as a way by some of its citizens to buy items outside of the country because of the current economic situation there. But I'm pretty sure that Latin American countries are into bitcoin because they are all sports lover specially football and I'm confident that most of them are betting online on their favorite team with bitcoins.

Users from some less developed countries, including Latin America, India etc. were among first to adopt Bitcoin. In a,way they thought that Bitcoin could help them financialy and be the new source of income that are usualy very low. Many people in such countries don't beleive their governments and national currencies so Bitcoin is kind of alternative they trust.

bitcoin is digital currency and it is dependent on the internet and I think now internet is available in all the countries infect 78% of income of the country is now dependent on internet access so I think the popularity and the access use of the bitcoin made bitcoin the adopted in Latin America and not only in Latin America but many other countries accepted bitcoin.

As one of the user stated Venezuela has got good number of bitcoin users and more miners. This is due to the decreased electricity consumption for mining and recently bitcoin got some opposition from governments due to the economic collapse that the country faced.

Even though Venezuela has a terrible president (check Trump's speech about putting Venezuela's president in prison), they for sure don't have issues with Bitcoins and mining. I don't know about other countrues of Latin America

Yes, they have issues with mining. Electricity there is cheap, so there were some people starting mining farms to mine Crypto-Currency, but the cheap electricity there is artificial, so when the mining farm started working, it consumed too much from the network, then the government invaded there, got the machines and arrested the "miners".

I have heard similar remarks about BTC use in Venezuela, it's dangerous, but people need to do what they must to survive.  I wish them luck, all of them (miners, users, etc.).

In Peru, NO ONE uses it, and hardly anyone has even heard of it.  Which is too bad because we have a business there.

Argentina and Brazil have fairly active BTC communities I have heard from friends.

A couple of months ago, I was planning/paying for a trip to Panama.  I assumed that since the country is known as a financial hub, Bitcoin would be accepted.  I couldn't find anyone who would accept it - they all wanted wire transfers.  But all of them had heard of Bitcoin.

Many countries are using bitcoin more miners who join, they already face what has happened to the country.

I don't know the whole latin america, but in Venezuela, it's very critic. The government there has some economical problems and they don't want citizens to use digital assets.

Regarding this question, I can talk from my own experience living in Colombia. Bitcoin is used by very few people, and it is mostly seen as an investment. Actually I only know personally one merchant that accepts bitcoins as a payment method. Unfortunately, most colombian's first contact with bitcoin was related to ponzi schemes, so it was kind of fixated in their minds that bitcoin is a fraud. This idea has been reinforced by massive official news agencies. I mean, every time something goes wrong with bitcoin, its prices goes down, a ponzi scheme stops paying and people lose money, it becomes mainstream news, and they dedicate a lot of time warning people about bitcoin and how dangerous it is. And most people accept it like that, without asking more. I have had the experience of talking to someone about bitcoin and being told that it is a fraud and they would never touch this "unregulated" and "not supported by the government" money. It's a little frustrating for me, but I have started some initiatives to educate people in my country, regarding Bitcoin and the Blockchain. It has been a hard work, but I'm sure that a proper education is necessary before seeing massive adoption.
