John McAfee, the outspoken and, at times controversial, founder of the antivirus software company which bears his name, is living up to his reputation with an outrageous online gambit on Bitcoin skyrocketing in value.
“Bitcoin's low of $1,800+ yesterday simply could not be maintained. In the long term Bitcoin moves above $500,000 within three years. Bets?” McAfee tweeted, adding that if it doesn’t: “I will eat my pe*is on national television.”

That is about as bullish a bet as one can find in the commodity markets, especially the notoriously volatile cryptocurrency trade. For perspective, McAfee is hoping for a rise of 22,636 percent in the next three years in order to save his manhood.
Bitcoin reached a high of $3,018 on June 11 but recently took a beating, dropping below $2,000 over the weekend before rebounding to over $2,300 early this week. At time of writing, it the Bitcoin price index stands at $2,384 .
The overall cryptocurrency market broke $80 billion on Tuesday, Coindesk reported.
Fundstrat's Tom Lee, known for his bearishness, has dubbed Bitcoin "the new gold," claiming that a price of $55,000 is possible by 2022.
"Cryptocurrencies are cannibalizing demand for gold," Lee wrote in an investor note cited by Business Insider. "Bitcoin is arguably becoming a scarcer store of value. Investors need to identify strategies to leverage this potential rise in cryptocurrencies.”

McAfee's new company, MGTI, has positioned itself as North America's largest bitcoin miner and is expanding operations into other cryptocurrencies.

McAfee challenged all takers with outlandish bets, complete with a minimum buy-in of $100,000 to be held in escrow, reports iBankCoin .
Bitcoin, Ether and XRP all grew by more than 10 percent in one day with Ether crossing the $200 mark for the first time since July 14.
The all-time high for the market was $115 billion set back in the middle of June.

but i dont want to see mcafee eat his penis, however. it feels odd to type penis on this forum, this just doesnt usually make it to my bitcoin newsfeed, LOL.

but what I do think his statement implies is that he may have some insider information about the market that makes it such a sure bet. ill be good and goddammed if i bet my penis on anything, so I imagine his confidence level must be off the charts, so to speak :)

I'm not sure that the bitcoin will surpass $500.000 . Already a woman gave a interview ( I miss her real name ) and told that she can't buy bitcoin at this moment because is too expensive for her . Also let's think logically , if 1 bitcoin will reach $500.000 who will buy 1 bitcoin ???? and if someone will buy 50-100$ in btc it will be something like this 0.00000000000000034 btc

John Mcafee is the one of best supporter of bitcoin and speculation of bitcoin price is always done by these person. Tell that lady bitcoin is not expensive if you think about the bitcoin's value in 2030 or more future years. There are many people still thinking we can go to any ICO which gives the higher value in the future years which is not cost a big value in the future.

I believe he wont eat himself if BTC doesnt reach that value. He was figuratively speaking I guess. Well, it is really hard to say how the growth will happen, and which barriers it will have in the next three years, but it is establishing itself, and with less than 10 years it has reached a very good value, and still gaining popularity, meaning that the value will definitely increase more.
I dont believe that the price might reach this value, but it will definitely be higher than 6000$ ( this is my prediction ofcourse).

LOL. I don't think this guy didn't mean it figuratively, maybe he is just emphasizing his point that he truly believes in bitcoin and very much bullish against it. And we don't need to believed his antics, we already know that this guy although a genius is somewhat eccentric. Perhaps he miss the media attention he is given a few years ago. But as far as his prediction, well its really hard to see bitcoin goes to that price is 3 years. Its not realistic for me, but if this price suddenly came into fruition then I will appreciate John's statement here as one of the driving force that really push the price to that level.  ;D

Of course it was figurative. That wouldn't even be physically possible lol. It was just meant to highlight how confident he is of his projections. I took a look at the twitter status, and he apparently used point-set-topology to arrive at his number. He also casually said that it actually predicts $2.4m in three years, so he was actually playing safe and was being conservative LOL. I recommend everyone to read the thread, this guy is freaking hilarious.

But yeah I don't mind his antics at all since it should be somewhat advantageous to Bitcoin. I think that's way too optimistic, but I'm not going to be one of those people who will call on him to eat himself if his prediction fails him. I hope Dimon calls him out for this if he fails though, that would just be golden lol.

If the bitcoin did not really reach that huge price in the future 3 years, It will be forgotten and he never gonna do that on national TV just for a bet i think he is just being sarcastic and over confident about his bets and statement about the price of bitcoin. But also McAfee wants to boost and serve as a marketing strategy to bumps its price because of his great speculation, who knows bitcoin will reach 500k USD in 2 to 3 years that would really a great breakthrough.
