Title: Re: UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread Post by: Hydrogen on July 20, 2017, 07:51:38 PM Lots of good fighters on this card. Jimmie Rivera, Lyman Good and Shane Burgos are all from Team Tiger Schulmann fighting out of new york.
Chris Weidman, Dennis Bermudez, Gian Villante, Frankie Perez (etc) also fighting out of new york. This could be the most new york fighter heavy card the UFC has ever had. Didn't realize Chase Sherman was a late replacement. He's a heavyweight. Don't know if he cuts weight to make the 265lb limit. No weight cut could be an advantage. Title: Re: UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread Post by: joshy23 on July 20, 2017, 10:25:13 PM Its gonna be a make or break for both Weidman and Gastelum. Specially Chris who has lost 3 straight so far. I think Chris Faces Do-or-Die Situation here. This is a fight he desperately needs to win, not just to avoid slipping into the dreaded territory of four straight defeats, but to preserve any semblance of hope that he still be able to resurrect his glory days.
Title: Re: UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread Post by: bbc.reporter on July 21, 2017, 01:14:13 AM @joshy23. It is more of a make or break for Chris Weidman than Kelvin Gastelum. For Kevin this is a stepping stone because winning this will put him in the top 5 and a fight away from becoming a title contender.
After this fight I speculate if Chris loses, he will retire or go to Bellator. After his breakthrough with the Anderson Silva wins, he suddenly lost steam and unable to capitalized on it. Although some of his lost is controversial specially the Mousasi fight. In two years' time, he went from exalted champion to catastrophic case study. Weidman is still young. He's taken damage and has been involved in brutal wars, but he's still a guy who can find himself back in contention. But to do so, he'll have to stay razor-sharp,and beat Gastelum, otherwise, I think he's career will be over in UFC, and just retire and lost in oblivion. IMHO. Title: Re: UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread Post by: Hydrogen on July 21, 2017, 10:08:33 PM Everyone made weight. Waiting for the official weigh ins to air to check for size differences, etc. Chase Sherman weighed 250.8 lbs which seems to indicate he doesn't cut weight. Could help him in the late notice fight against Damian Grabowski. Have to check Chase Sherman's previous fights to see how much we weighed to get a better indication of how good of a shape he is in physically.

A far cry from the weidman we saw knocking out a cocky anderson silva a couple of years back. The thing with fighters is that it's also a mental game so i don't think weidman's recovered at all from his losses. I think he's had a good run but a lotnof fighters now have risen in this division. Though gastelum's not really right up there in the top of the division as well. If weidman loses, i think that's it for him.

Weidman used to be the poster boy for UFC/MMA ever since he beat the great Anderson Silva. But after that his career went downward spiral indeed. I don't know if its poor match making or his opponent has find chink in his armor that they have exploited resulting in his lost. He is still young and I hope he win this fight and win it in fashion like knockout to really resurrect his career otherwise its gonna be the end of the road for him. its only for small plays tho i dont like my picks that much for this event i prob like Natal the most out of all of them after looking at the lines again i kinda like Frankie Perez and Godofredo Pepey for the odds Title: Re: UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread Post by: Hydrogen on July 22, 2017, 09:33:34 PM Good wins by Junior Albini and Chito Vera. Shane Burgos look good, too. Think Kyle Bochniak could win the next fight. Good fights so far.
Not certain about picks for this event. I thought for sure Timothy Johnson would win but he got finished in the 1st round lol. I thought for sure Timothy Johnson would win but he got finished in the 1st round lol. I am not sure about the fighters in this card. This is a battle for Weidman and if he looses this one against Gastelum then it is over for Weidman as this will be his fourth loss in a row and it will be difficult for him to regroup everything and have another run at the championship level.Edit: And finally a win for Weidman and the funny thing was he was challenging for the title . :D Title: Re: UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread Post by: notserp on July 23, 2017, 03:19:21 AM small 1.5 unit win atleast i didnt lose lol

I honestly missed your post. The 'maybe Chris' comment was what would have made me bet on Weidman I swear to God! It just needed a little push from you or anybody for that matter. Oh well... Anyway, I guess Gastelum will be going back down to WW? Title: Re: UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread Post by: SaShiRaJaVu on July 23, 2017, 10:27:52 PM Oh well... Anyway, I guess Gastelum will be going back down to WW? It is really difficult for Gastelum to cut that much weight for WW,he should work on his skills and come back stronger or to look after his diet seriously if he really wants to go down to WW and Weidman is back in the win column after three one sided losses ,waiting for the Jon Jones fight and i am sure i am betting for Jones on that one.Title: Re: UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs Gastelum Info and Prediction Thread Post by: joshy23 on July 24, 2017, 07:09:18 PM Just watched the replay and its a good win for Chris. I think he has temporarily redeem his career with a good win over Kelvin Gastelum and somewhat gained confidence again. But I have some jitters in the dying seconds of the first 1 and I thought 'urgh here we go again'. The former UFC middleweight champion’s well-documented, three-fight losing streak had largely been a tale of “he was winning the fight until he wasn’t.” I think he needed another win to boost his confidence more and maybe he will be given the chance to go for the belt.
