Title: Sending from vanity address. Post by: bit_NINj4 on May 13, 2013, 07:01:24 AM Hi,
I'm looking for the best (safe/secure) wallet to import uncompressed privkey, so that I can send payments from solely that address. It will help me to verify my payments via the blockchain. I currently use qt and know that sending via a dedicated address is not possible. Is it possible with other wallets? If so, which ones? Best? I was thinking Armory. I do have over 6gb ram and x64 win system. Advice? Thanks Title: Re: Sending from vanity address. Post by: piotr_n on May 13, 2013, 09:04:55 AM First of all, I am pretty sure that the qt allows to import an externally generated private key (with the "importprivkey" RPC), so I don't quite understand why you say that sending from such would not be possible.
Besides of that, my gocoin's (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199306.0) wallet does such things. All you need to do is to place your (base58 encoded) private key in a text file called others.sec (in the same folder where you run the wallet app from). Then make sure that there is a recent "balance" folder (that contains unspent transactions belonging to your key) - and then you can spend coins from that address by calling: Code: wallet -send 1btcAddressBlahBlaBla=amount Title: Re: Sending from vanity address. You can import your vanity address in a few seconds then set it to 'prioritize' in the receive tab so that payments will be sent out from that address if it has any funds in it. This is the ideal solution. However, Electrum is currently having some issues (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=235442.0).You can import your vanity address in a few seconds then set it to 'prioritize' in the receive tab so that payments will be sent out from that address if it has any funds in it. Title: Re: Sending from vanity address. Post by: apetersson on June 20, 2013, 09:16:22 PM the most efficient way to do this is the Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycelium.wallet
it supports importing addresses and/or private keys. after importing you have explicit control over which keys you are using for sending. Title: Re: Sending from vanity address. Post by: Dabs on June 23, 2013, 04:18:43 AM You can use coin control in bitcoin-QT. You pick which unspent outputs, and custom change address, so you can basically pick which key to use and all chance goes back to the same key. You can use 1 address forever.
